capstone · 01/06/2010 12:01

I like it

snowlady · 01/06/2010 12:07

Sorry it makes me think of otitis media (ear infection)

theagedparent · 01/06/2010 12:09

Lovely

ellesabe · 01/06/2010 12:11

Ha ha!

GiraffeYoga · 01/06/2010 12:11

I love this but my DH had reservation that it sounded like a dogs name. Or the Aardvark from childrens tele...

Might push for it again if we have DC #2 though

tummytickler · 01/06/2010 13:46

I used to love this, but I have gone right off it - not helped by the fact it is the make of every lift in every hospital in the land!
we caught an Otis lift on the way up to labour ward and that put a nail in the Otis coffin for me .
But, to be honest, I am very surprised it is not much more popular than it is with all the Dexters and Quentins.

tummytickler dexter is my other name in my top names list, the nearer i get to edd the more confused i get!!!

Cool name.

telsa · 01/06/2010 15:56

Johnny Otis, Otis Redding - great name.

CantSupinate · 01/06/2010 15:59

Me BigTime No Like.
Sounds like an uneducated Country Hick Name at best.
Quenton is cute, but Otis, ugh.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 01/06/2010 16:00

Makes me think of Vic and Bob's puppets, I'm afraid.

singersgirl · 01/06/2010 16:01

Lifts.
Otitis.

Rindercella · 01/06/2010 16:05

Used to love it, now it reminds me of ear infections I'm afraid. When I was pg, we also considered Cassius if we had a boy. We ended up having a girl

dct · 01/06/2010 18:19

I love it

mopsyflopsy · 01/06/2010 18:21

I also like Quentin and Dexter, though .

memphis83 · 01/06/2010 19:52

I like it.

Tanga · 01/06/2010 19:57

Love Otis - seriously beautiful baby at my baby massage class was called Otis; I assumed Otis Redding but his mother admitted she was inspired by the name on the lift to the labour ward as they'd not managed to agree on a boy's name up until then!

Can't believe anyone would chose Quentin over Otis - pre-ten-shus.

babyboyjuly · 01/06/2010 20:20

LIFTS.

I hate the sound too OAT -TISSSS

bigbluebump · 01/06/2010 21:31

I quite like Otis. There are so many names which have some other connotation, that I wouldn't worry about the lift connection. People will think of your ds rather than any lift manufacturer when they hear Otis.

I do love Quentin - it is high on our list actually.

TotallyWipedout · 01/06/2010 21:33

I'm afraid it does make me think of lifts. I lived in a flat once that had an Otis lift.

But if it's Otis or Dexter, I'd have to say Otis.

lidofabiro · 02/06/2010 00:11

Are there really so many Otis lifts in the world? memphis83, do you or any of your friends/family live near an Otis lift?

memphis83 · 02/06/2010 09:15

lidofabiro, cant say ive ever seen an otis lift they arent used at our hospital and i dont know anyone who lives in a flat so i doublt they have them in there houses!
