What do you think of these names for a girl?

DP isn't too keen but I quite like them.

Like them both. Is this for twins or are you trying to decide between the names? Personally I prefer Freya. If it's for twins how about Lydia and Freya rather than Lexi and Freya?

nooka · 01/06/2010 05:40

I prefer Alexa or Alexandra. I don't think Lexi on it's own is very nice - it sounds very teenage "cool" to me. Freya is OK. I know a couple.

diddl · 01/06/2010 08:15

Don´t like Lexi tbh.

violetbat · 01/06/2010 08:17

Lexi Sounds common and every second child here his called freya.

teaandcakeplease · 01/06/2010 08:18

Freya is lovely. Lexi is a nickname 2 friends of mine use but their full names are Alexandria (sp?)

SqueezyB · 01/06/2010 09:10

Freya is lovely. Lexi is good as a NN, but I would use Alexa or Alexandra as a full name.

capstone · 01/06/2010 10:49

I like Lexi but would have it as short for Alexandra. Also prefer Lexie spelling.

Sorry but I'm not keen on Freya, it reminds me of frayed fabric.

Amapoleon · 01/06/2010 10:50

I don't like Lexi, I like Freya.

newpup · 01/06/2010 11:34

Freya is pretty but quite popular where we live. Lexi is very trendy and I suspect will be very popular soon.

They are both pretty and if you do not mind them being popular go for it.

I would choose Freya!

I like Freya but Lexi is not complete IMO - I like names to be full names with a nickname if you prefer. Call her Alexis/Alexa/Alexandra with Lexi for short? I also think Lexie is nicer but just my opinion....

bigstripeytiger · 01/06/2010 18:36

I think Freya is lovely. I'm wouldnt use Lexi as a formal name, and not that keen even as a nn.

capstone · 01/06/2010 18:39

Alexandria is a nice alternative to Alexandra.

bleedingheart · 01/06/2010 18:50

I really like Lexi, not so keen on Freya.

Rubena · 01/06/2010 19:03

I like Freya although it is a brand of bread in NZ but I still like it. I prefer Alexandra though as someone said

fanjolina · 01/06/2010 19:06

I think Lexi is a bit chav (cos footballers wives have used it)

cupofteaplease · 01/06/2010 19:10

I loved Freya, but it is so common around here now that I wouldn't use it myself.

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/06/2010 19:21

I don't like Lexi. I colleague I worked with called her child that - but spelled Lexxii. Terrible imo.

Freya is a very pretty nme but is ubiquitous like Evie, Isabella et al.

EricNorthmansmistress · 01/06/2010 19:36

Lexxii

Roffle

Lecksey? Lexxiiey? Lexuy?

SKYTVADDICT · 01/06/2010 19:39

I like Freya (slightly biased as I have one lol). It is not very common round here and the only one I know is 2 - mine is nearly 10.

I also like Lexi and it was high on my list for DC 4 - who turned out to be a boy.

jellybeans · 01/06/2010 19:41

Like Lexi but would use Alexa. I usually like short forms but would worry about the use of Sexy lexi etc. Alexa also is less trendy, lexi/lexie are quite popular now and together are quite high up in the girls chart.

Up here Lexie is an anglicised form of a gaelic name (or can be, at least), so it's not always a shortened version of Alexandra.
