Trying to think of names for dc3. Have 2dd who don't have very common names, so wanting to go down this route again.

Girls
Esme Lousie
Esme Rose

Boys
Noah Fred
Dexter Fred
Phineas Fred

I think we are set on the girls name, but not the middle name.
The boys name yet again are proving difficult to choose.

Esme sounds like a granny name.

For the boys, Fred is a nickname, at least go for Frederick. Noah's a lovely name.

SillyTillyBilly · 29/05/2010 22:12

Esme is gorgeous. Rose works well with it but is a very popular middle name at the moment.

I don't like Dexter I am afraid. I know of 4 all under 2 and the mothers all thought they were being original but I cna only think of that murderer Dexter on the TV!

I love the name Noah and Phineas is really cute too (much more original). Fred is a great middle name too.

janeite · 29/05/2010 22:14

Esme is lovely and Noah is lovely. Not fond of any of the others.

Psammead · 30/05/2010 09:55

I'd be tempted to put Esmeralda on the birth certificate - and I think that goes beautifully with Rose.

Same thing with Fred/Frederick. From the first names I like Noah and Phineas.

LetThereBeRock · 30/05/2010 09:57

I love Noah but I don't like Dexter and Phineas is awful.

Esme is very nice with Louise or Rose.

sedgiebaby · 30/05/2010 10:02

Esme and Noah

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/05/2010 10:06

What's your idea of a 'not common' name? Esme is getting increasingly popular, into top 100 def, though I do like it.

Noah is VERY common these days.
Not keen on Dexter or Phineas.

mopsyflopsy · 30/05/2010 10:06

I only like Phineas - very nice and not that widespread.

I do like Esmeralda but really hate Esme when pronounced by English people.

Gigantaur · 30/05/2010 10:08

Esme Rose

Dexter Fred.

telsa · 30/05/2010 10:18

Esme is very pretty and goes nicely with Rose. The popularity of Rose does not matter - it is such a lovely name and timeless. Of the boys, I really like Phineas. I agree that Frederick or Fredric should go on birth certificate. Phineas Fredric sounds great to my ears.

The only name I love there is Phineas. Such a wonderful name!

Esme & Dexter are very of the moment and rapidly increasing in popularity. Noah is nice but is already very popular.

dannas · 30/05/2010 10:54

He may get nicknamed Finn, but he'll still be a Phineas, which is very unusual!

edam · 30/05/2010 10:57

I like all your names except Dexter. (Although Louise and Rose are both incredibly popular as middle names, if you are into less common names why go with either of them?)

Esme was my late lamented moggie's name btw.

mopsyflopsy · 30/05/2010 10:57

Yeah, that could be the problem with Phineas... Finn is indeed very, very common. I like Quinn, though.

SambuccaKelly · 30/05/2010 11:21

Honest opinuons

Esme is a very 'in vogue' name. NIf you don;t kind that, no probolems. It's pretty - but it incrddibly common in othewr words.

much prefer Louise as a middle name as Rose/Mae are too common.

I like Phineas the best, but he will become Phin, won't he? So won;t be that distinguishable from all the Finns, Finleys, Finlays out there. Again, too common for my tastes.

Phineas is the only one that isn't really popular at the moment. It's also my favourite. But yes, Finn is stupidly popular.

I think you're in danger of picking something that's a lot more common than you'd like.

jellybeans · 30/05/2010 12:43

Esme Lousie..ok
Esme Rose...better

Noah Fred...love this
Dexter Fred..dislike
Phineas Fred...really dislike, reminds me of Phineas and Ferb (disney channel)

suspiria · 30/05/2010 12:51

If you want a less common name I'd go for Esmeralda. There are a lot of girls called Esme.
I like all your boys names.

usualsuspect · 30/05/2010 12:52

Ditch the Fred

travellingrose · 01/06/2010 22:19

Esme Rose and Noah Fred

mathanxiety · 02/06/2010 00:13

Esme is really popular, so if you want to go down the unusual road, Esme won't take you there.

Phinnaeus is the name of Julia Roberts' son? Also very like Finn, which is really popular.

I personally would avoid Fred and Rose in the names. On their own they're nice though.

Louise and Fred as first names?
