Hi we are looking for a name for our daughter who is far too old already to not have a name. We have thought far too long and now we have no perspective at all and really just get more and more confused. Our first son is called Leif and so something completly main stream doesn't go well however we are open to this . We have lists that get longer and longer but still we haven't found the right name.My second child has a name i don't like so I don't want to make that mistake again. It has become a naming night mere. Thanks for any help.

How old is your daughter?

Maybe if you write your shortlist (or longlist) here we can give feedback/suggest names you might like?
What do you think of:

Rowan
Hebe
Amberley
Merle

Are you particularly looking for Scandinavian names, dragonmoon?

What's your other child's name -- there's Leif and ?, and give us a hint about your surname?

OrmRenewed · 27/05/2010 16:31

Idony.

I love it but never go the chance. Pronounced I-DOHN-ee. I expect you'll hate it

mathanxiety · 27/05/2010 17:27

Ooooh, that's very nice.

How about Saskia, Iris or Astrid? I think a name that sounds ethereal and vaguely Scandinavian/ Greek would go with Leif and Idony.

willow5 · 28/05/2010 04:46

Hi, here's the Norwegian stats so you can get a feel for what could go together with Leif. My little girl is Maya as she is half Norwegian, a lovely international name

thumbwitch · 28/05/2010 04:50

Fleur. Goes well with Leif.

I do like Astrid as well, mind.
I knew two sisters called Saskia and Mariska - think they were Danish - like both those names.

thumbwitch · 28/05/2010 04:52

(just to let you know, it's 'nightmare')

diddl · 28/05/2010 08:45

Hebe-my favourite girls name.

OrmRenewed · 28/05/2010 09:55

Idony is from :

"IÐUNN
Gender: Feminine

Usage: Norse Mythology, Ancient Scandinavian

Probably derived from Old Norse ið "again" and unna "to love". In Norse mythology Iðunn was the goddess of spring and immortality whose responsibility it was to guard the gods' apples of youth."

So it is Scandinavian too.
