What do you think of the name Natalia?

Sounds like a russian gymnast.

pointydog · 17/05/2010 19:37

too much texas. Just use Natalie

DinahRod · 17/05/2010 19:49

Should really be an urban myth but was form tutor to a Natalia and her bf was called Jenna. Always, always called them 'Talia & Jenna' and never the other way round.

Having drifted somewhat from you OP, think it's pretty, not overused, although always had reservations about Nat/gnat.

bunnymother · 17/05/2010 20:32

If you are Russian (or another nationality to which Natalia is native), its a beautiful name. Otherwise I would prob stick with Natalie.

Pinner35 · 17/05/2010 20:34

I like it.....it was on our list for DD1.

Linnet · 17/05/2010 20:37

I think it's a lovely name,my neighbour is called Natalia actually, not a name you hear every day.

loobylu3 · 17/05/2010 20:39

v pretty!

foreverastudent · 17/05/2010 20:53

The way 'natalie' is pronounced around here ' nut-l-ee', natalia is much better.

ilovethesummer · 17/05/2010 20:56

Thanks, mixed responses there! We have Spanish and Italian family so have an excuse to choose a name other than an English one, and we are moving to America in the next year or so. Was interested to see what everyone thought, it's the only name DH and I can agree on at the moment.

Natalia is a lovely name, I wanted to use it for dd after Natalia Ginzburg, who is one of my favourite Italian writers and who was a brave, intelligent, feisty woman.

Thediaryofanobody · 17/05/2010 21:10

I prefer Natalie.
Natalia just comes across as trying to hard.

Hedwig3 · 18/05/2010 09:46

Makes me think of Christmas.

littlemissm · 19/05/2010 15:51

Love it but hate it when people shorten it to Nat i love this name & took the Talia bit of the name for my dd but spelt it Tahlia as didnt want the Ta-lia sound.

EleanorD · 19/05/2010 15:53

I really like Natalia, not a name I've heard for ages but v.pretty.

mathanxiety · 19/05/2010 17:40

I love it, think it's really beautiful, and it has a more substantial yet graceful sound than Natalie.

ilovethesummer · 19/05/2010 22:19

Thanks, some more positive responses! We would prefer it shortened to Talia, rather than Nat.

I like Natalie, or Talia used as a name in its own right.
