Initials?

My friend is due in September, and if her baby's a girl they'll call her Grace. They'd like to use Allison as a middle name (after the mother-to-be's sister) but their surname starts with G as well.

So, dear mumsnetters, would initials that spell "gag" be enough to put you off using Allison as a middle name?

Yes.

belgo · 16/05/2010 16:35

They could add a second middle name

Grace Mary Alison G...

for example

harley85 · 16/05/2010 17:35

yes it would put me off too.. i agree with belgo... 2 middle names

dizzydixies · 16/05/2010 18:24

agree, shove in another one

lljkk · 16/05/2010 18:31

Allison Grace is nice, could go by her middle name.

CheerfulYank · 17/05/2010 15:55

I like Allison Grace too, but they are intent on calling her Gracie and want her first name to be what she's called. (Here in the US people aren't usually called by their middle names unless they're juniors or something.) I will send along the suggestion to put another middle name in there...I keep suggesting my own first name but they are resisting.

We can't use certain names as our last name is E -E so WEE or PEE would be very unfair on child. It is definitely an extra thing that does need some consideration

GG is fine, but not GAG

ki28 · 17/05/2010 17:04

my dd daughter has ended up with EGG as hers!

I knew a PAD who got married and became a PAN. Perhaps having a vowel in the middle isn't the best idea.

CheerfulYank · 18/05/2010 15:55

I'm trying to get them to call her Violet Allison G___ , so that her initials will be vag, but they are oddly reluctant.

I have just met a new Mum with her beautiful baby girl whose initials are ARS. Great fun for the boys when she gets older!

Hedwig3 · 19/05/2010 12:19

ARS...

She just HAS to marry Mr Edwards and double-barrel her surname

BibiFashion · 19/05/2010 12:51

At least not LOL or OMG )

hellokitty123 · 19/05/2010 12:53

My Other half is A.S.S for his initals, i am now midway through the 20s and my mum still calls me mine which is not bad a KM however my niece is DM so has always been danger mouse to me

Initals can be dangerous but the middle name is too especially if in memory of a loved one.
