Lovely. I know one beautiful 20 year old Clementine, always known as Clemmie mind you.

swanandduck · 13/05/2010 13:06

It's nice but a bit of a mouthful. I imagine it would always be shortened to Clem or Clemmie which are okay.

Crazycatlady · 13/05/2010 13:11

I like the full version (it is DD's middle name), but I think Clemmie sounds like clammy, which is not so nice!

Mousesmummy · 13/05/2010 13:17

That's the problem with nn's eh? I also love Vivienne but really dislike Viv!

No.It's horrid imho. And she'll soon get tired of hearing that song.

bratnav · 13/05/2010 13:29

Mousemummy , DSD is called Violet but her Mum and Dad HATED her being called Vi, so they shortened it themselves to V, would that or something similar work?

Magaly · 13/05/2010 13:31

It's a bit harsh imo.

alfiemama · 13/05/2010 13:35

I'd love to be brave enough to use it. But I think its one of those fantasy names, like Calypso or Bluebell that we all love but wouldn't dare use.

Mousesmummy · 13/05/2010 13:40

violet is lovely! Not sure about V? I love the way Vivienne looks, DH dislikes both btw!!!

I loved it until everyone sung the song, said orange or flemmie to me!

Vivienne is very pretty without any of the possible nasty nicknames

cheesesarnie · 13/05/2010 14:04

my ss is clemency.usually shortened to clem or clemmie.mn is vienna which is very pretty imo.

Soapsy · 13/05/2010 14:10

Love it. Was top of my list for if I had a girl. Winston Churchill's wife was Clementine, so not a fantasy name at all. It used to be quite popular, and hence like a lot of 'old lady' names is coming back round again.

I'd have probably ende up calling her Tiny.

Hedwig3 · 13/05/2010 14:48

Gorgeous.

Ishoglomo · 13/05/2010 16:06

I like it Also like Clemency and Clementina.

legallyblond · 13/05/2010 16:09

Clemency or Clementine are no 1 on my and DH's list. We will def be using if its a girl!

Clemmie will be the nn for us...

I LOVE it obviously!

(Felix is our no 1 for a boy..)

moulesfrites · 13/05/2010 16:13

I think it is fabulous and would love to be brave enough to use it. maybe i would but just as a middle name. I think the song is only significant to those in an older generation, I'm a teacher and remember trying to explain to my Year 9s that the "Beasts of England" song from Animal Farm would be to the tune of "Oh my darling..." and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about...Go for it!!

Mousesmummy · 13/05/2010 16:33

Lots of positives here - thanks!!!
We have a Bridget, Martha and Esther so want something similar - a 'proper' name but not very common IYSWIM?
May well be a boy though so????
Thanks for your posts ladies xx

I love it!

Jenbot · 13/05/2010 16:44

I like it but can't stand Clem or Clemmie for some reason.

thegrowler · 13/05/2010 16:49

Love it, my DD's middle name. Would have loved to use it as a first name but DH was not convinced.

StrictlyTory · 13/05/2010 18:11

I think Clemency goes better with your other names. I have this thing about name lenght and couldn't have one much longer than the others!

Plus Clementine is very frilly compared to your other 3.

ActuallyMyNamesMarina · 13/05/2010 18:15

Clementine is fab.

Tis the middle name of a character in Thomas Hardy Return of the Native - a baby called Eustacia Clementine - always thought it quite sweet myself

DomesticG0ddess · 13/05/2010 19:35

I like Clementine, but not the shortened versions, and as it is quite a mouthful, it would end up being shortened all the time?
