Nev is a cool nickname though.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/05/2010 16:56

Thats was not a fascinator Hully, that was a hat (you twat).

Fantastic thing to wear to a wedding I thought. I bet you made the bride spit.

annh · 10/05/2010 16:57

Another thing about Neville - he would not call people twat or moron!

mathanxiety · 10/05/2010 17:28

Never

CaptainUnderpants · 10/05/2010 17:45

Neville Longbottom is quite a dish now

lurverly ...

Psammead · 10/05/2010 18:35

Gosh, he kind of is...

Neville was the wet one in 'Aufwiedersehen, Pet'.

KittyTwoShoes · 10/05/2010 19:38

Oh, I say. Neville Longbottom!

Call the child Neville and please may he grow up to look like him? Ta.

usualsuspect · 10/05/2010 19:40

its a bit wet

LilRedWG · 10/05/2010 19:41

My Dad's name was Neville and to be honest I would never use it for a child of mine, but to me it sums up my Dad. He was a Gentleman in the true sense of the word, kind, traditional, private and wonderful.

Rockbird · 11/05/2010 07:00

Glad I'm not the only one to think Auf Wiedersehen Pet

Psammead · 11/05/2010 09:27

LilRedWG your description of your father has been added to my mental catalouging of Nevilles. He sounds like a lovely man

flopsy1974 · 11/05/2010 09:44

Horrible. Sorry.
Apparently Gary and Phil Nevilles Dad is called Neville Neville. How bad is that? Some kind of cruel joke by the parents I think?

LilRedWG · 11/05/2010 10:35

Thank you Psammead - he was indeed a lovely man.

Phlox · 11/05/2010 10:55

DH works for a man called Neville and he is a complete and utter twat. A really unplesant man.

However I would concede that Neville Longbottom is lovely, and Nev is a great nickname.

Horrible name. Would put it in the same category as Malcolm. A librarian who still lives with his Mum and has a crush on the next door neighbour.

mathanxiety · 11/05/2010 15:22

I knew a Neville who was the opposite of pretty much all the impressions on this thread, but I still think it's one of those names that will die out. It's too 1930s.

mumoverseas · 12/05/2010 13:31

LilRed I'm so sorry but I dislike that name very much, no disrespect to your lovely dad.
I hate it as its my brothers name and (as you may recall) he is a complete arsehole.
