Has anyone had this problem? My baby has been given a nickname since birth, Lulu, (originally short for Lucy) which has stuck. I never wanted Lucy but no one seems to take it seriously when I want to discuss other names.Im finding it impossible to name her because her father just wont use any other name.

Why stick with Lucy/Lucie at all?
Louise/Louisa are just as valid for Lulu as a nn - I had 2 friends at school called Louise who used it, whereas my friend's sister who is a Lucy was just called Lu, never Lulu.

You could always go for Lulabelle...

I like Lucia but would always pronounce it Italian-style with a "ch" sound in the middle.

Another friend was always called Lulu at home because her middle name was Louise - everyone else called her by her first name.

So go with whatever you like, let your DH call her Lulu and she can decide whenever she's old enough what she wants to use.

Lulu is a pretty mainstream name here in Australia. My little girl is 4 and there is a Lulu in her nursery, she's gorgeous with big brown eyes and dark curly hair, I love the name Lulu!

why not just call her Lulu?

Thats interesting Willow5. Could I also ask you for the aussie perspective on little girls called Matilda. I had grown to like Matilda Lucy/Lulu but not sure about the Waltzing Matilda connotations.
