FightingDwarf · 07/05/2010 20:50

Makes me think of Nelson Muntz from the Simpsons rather than Nelson Mandela...

Also would get shortened to Nel/Nelly which is a bit girlie.

Magaly · 07/05/2010 20:50

Not keen.

LynetteScavo · 07/05/2010 20:52

As a child I had a hamster called Nelson. Because he only had one eye like Lord Nelson.

weaselm4 · 07/05/2010 20:55

Yes, tragically I thought of Nelson from the Simpsons before I thought of Nelson Mandela. Depends how much you like the Simpsons . I once knew a Bart...

beccas · 07/05/2010 20:56

Nelson is on my list.... I like a lot

Magaly · 07/05/2010 20:56

i really loved the name Bart,, but the whole under achiever thing put me off a bit. I thought, if my child is as lazy as I am..... AND called Bart to boot. Lovely name though.

PosyPetrovaPauline · 07/05/2010 21:21

The first one I think of is Horatio Nelson.

(How about Horatio?)

CakeandRoses · 08/05/2010 10:50

What a great name! I thought of Mandela followed by Horatio.

Weirdly, despite the the famous Nelsons, I've never thought of it as a name - if that makes any sense.

Lovely sounds to it too.

annasophia · 08/05/2010 11:26

I like it. Works well in other languages too.

MamaLazarou · 08/05/2010 12:49

I love Nelson. I would definitely have shortlisted it if it went with our surname.

cananybodyhelp · 08/05/2010 12:50

it's my cat's name

lljkk · 08/05/2010 13:32

I know an 11m. old Nelson; his mom is North American, though, living in Norfolk, well, you see the connection...

cyteen · 08/05/2010 13:34

It's my friend's dog's name.

PollyTicks · 08/05/2010 14:19

Love it.
