I'm back, and I'm pregnant! Haven't been on here in a long time. Me and OH are thinking of Camilla, Emmeline or Lily for a girl and Edward, Elijah or James for a boy. What do you think of these names? Or do you have any similar ones to add to our ever growing list?

Like Camilla & all the boys names-slight preference for Elijah.

Not similar but I like Jethro & Hebe.

And congratulations!

Emmeline -s the nicest, IMO. Nice link to the Pankhurst suffragette too. Camilla, I guess, is going to continue to be linked to royalty. Lily is very pretty and I don't know any little ones, but I know it is meant to be very popular.

Similar names:
Ciceley
Cecily
Gwendoline
Henrietta

Boys' names:
Elijah is the most striking - more unconventional - prophetic! I find the others rather ordinary but very solid and would assume a family connection.

Oh yes-I also like Cecily-and Harriet!

Congratulations. I like all the boys names, wanted Elijah when we were having DC2 but DH vetoed all biblical names.

Like your girls names all your girls names but Lily is very popular, don't know though if that would bother you.

And we have an Emmeline and are forever explaining that no, she's not called Emily!

Congratulations. Emmeline is definitely my favourite, it's on my list too (I think it's growing slightly in popularity as I've seen quite a few threads recently with the name). Problem is DH isn't as keen, as he thinks it would be confusing as we are constantly having to repeat/spell our surname to people.

Would pick Elijah for a boy. I think James works well as a middle name.

ChildOfThe70s · 06/05/2010 13:55

Agree that Lily is vpopular, as is James (we used it for a middle name though)

MamaLazarou · 06/05/2010 18:47

There are a million Lilys and Jameses. I vote for Elijah and Camilla.

Congrats, BTW!

JosephineClaire · 06/05/2010 18:56

I love Emmeline and it's our chosen name too - but nessmay is right, it's getting really popular. Hopefully we'll get it in there ahead of a huge boom in popularity?!

Wanted Edward for DS1. I found a book which said it meant "guardian of joy". Ended up calling him Matthew though.

Camilla - slightly put off by Prince Charles' wife. Love Milla though.

Emmeline - I just think of Emmlyn Hughes from Question of Sport.

Lily - nice but popular

Edward - ok in a corduroy slacks kind of way.

Elijah - Like it.

James - Please don't. The dullest name in the world.
