Good, solid name. Very inoffensive.

rubyslippers · 05/05/2010 11:41

like it

FakePlasticTrees · 05/05/2010 11:41

I've never met a Matthew I didn't like - they tend to be charming, nice and reliable.

prettybird · 05/05/2010 11:42

I like it - but then I am biased, having chosen it for ds!

Can be shortened to Matt as well - I like a name that gives that sort of option. Interestingly, ds doesn't like it being shortened though.

ki28 · 05/05/2010 11:43

I like it very much. good strong name which will stand the test of time!

CuppaTeaJanice · 05/05/2010 11:47

I hope he's not on the portly side.

'Fat Matt Splat' is not an easy nickname to carry off. Which is what most of the larger Matthews I've known were called at school.

LouMacca · 05/05/2010 11:56

Nice

oceryo · 05/05/2010 12:52

It's OK.

Not keen on nickname Matt.

imahappycamper · 05/05/2010 15:36

I have a lovely Matthew who chose to call himself Matt when he got older. I still call him Matthew though and he copes.

MrsJohnDeere · 05/05/2010 15:46

Lovely name.

My dh is one. He has never been called Matt or Matt Splatt (and he is on the bigger side of average) or any other nn.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 05/05/2010 16:13

Great name. Solid and kind

KiddingAnxiously · 05/05/2010 16:16

Very nice.

tummytickler · 05/05/2010 16:18

Incredibly dull. Matt is horrid too.

lucy567 · 05/05/2010 16:24

Sorry, but I think its dull as well and a bit wet.

sonniboo · 05/05/2010 16:48

I don't like it, I'm afraid. And Matt reminds me of fat.

annasophia · 05/05/2010 21:55

A bit boring/dull perhaps, but not offensive. Hadn't thought of the 'fat' connection, actually...

Magaly · 05/05/2010 22:36

It's nice but I would never pick it. It's just not ZING enough. ALthough, today's zing is tomorrow's Keith.

pigleychez · 06/05/2010 16:46

Matthew is our chosen name if this bump is a boy.
Its also DH's middle name so sentemental reasons too.

Good solid name that doesnt really date.

Never heard of the Fat Matt thing... but then every Matthew I have know has been very smart and hansome (and slim!)

smallishsheep · 06/05/2010 16:48

I have a Matthew, precisely because I have never met a bad one
BUT
I really really really hate when it is shortened to Matt. I'm sure I will change my mind when he's older, but he's not even two, and his name is Matthew

diddl · 06/05/2010 17:04

Lovely.
I know one whose nn is Billy

rachel234 · 08/05/2010 11:47

A bit dull for my taste. Not keen on Matt.

CinderellaRach · 08/05/2010 12:39

Boring and dull...Sorry.

bubbles12 · 08/05/2010 13:43

Lovely name. Married to one so possibly a bit biased!

Clary · 08/05/2010 14:00

There is one in every class in our school.

Or just about. DS1 has four in his year (about 30 boys). DS2 knows one; I also know at least five others at the school.

It's a nice classic name (nn usually Matt in case you don't like it; tho in the case of DS1 they have had to resort to corruptions of surnames to distinguish! ) which is why it is popular I guess.

LiquoriceLila · 08/05/2010 21:51

Really boring, Ds1 who's 7 has 4 of themin his class.
