AbFabT · 03/05/2010 18:39

Love it.

CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 18:40

ds2's middle name
love it

imagine if they were a really grumpy baby though! or one of those rather dour and serious children
it could give your rellies years of amusement

APassionateWoman · 03/05/2010 19:20

sickly sweet

pointydog · 03/05/2010 19:29

I thought it was a girl's name as in actress Blythe Duff. Can it be both then?

imahappycamper · 03/05/2010 19:31

It's a service station on the A1

bellissima · 04/05/2010 10:07

Or the place just up the coast from Whitley Bay...

There again, Bay has been suggested here. And Whitley could be a 'youneek' version of Whitney...

GladioliBuckets · 04/05/2010 11:01

Not liking it so much I'm afraid - not such a pretty sound and the meaning conjures up a careless ditsy person.

sleepingsowell · 04/05/2010 11:07

I just love this name. I think it's just gorgeous and so pretty.

Actress Blythe Danner is Gwyneth Paltrow's mum.

I think (or am I making this up?) that Blyth can be a boy's name?

mintyfresh · 04/05/2010 12:29

Does no-one remember Gilbert Blythe - my childhood crush

I think it is a lovely name - not sure if very girly though although could just be my association with it..

Pasiphae · 04/05/2010 14:43

Oooh the lovely Blythe dolls...
Lovely name.

mathanxiety · 04/05/2010 14:59

I think it's really beautiful. A very graceful name, definitely feminine without suffering from the defect of frilliness.

oceryo · 04/05/2010 16:12

I don't really like the sound of it, not sure why though.

GladioliBuckets · 04/05/2010 17:06

Captain Bligh, Enid Blyton, blah blah blah blee. Sorry.

I think of Blithe Spirit and a charmed sort of 1920s life -- positive associations here.

Magaly · 05/05/2010 18:08

i like it.

boodleboot · 05/05/2010 20:06

Mathanxiety - that is exactly how the name makes me feel....like a name of yesteryear, traditional but quite romantic and just a little bit carefree....

Bee or Bibi for when she is little....

I like it. Quite traditional sounding yet unusual.

highlystrung · 06/05/2010 07:21

I love this name and DD2 was very nearly called it, but did get a funny reaction from those we told. It sounds really feminine to me but a few people thought it was a boys name. If I had another daughter I'd love to call them Blythe.

Lovely name - similar connotations to Mathanxiety's.
