Been struggling for a girls name, exp DC3 in 2 weeks, already chosen boys name!

Already have DS's Alexander and William, and have chosen Edward/Samuel for a boy, not sure which way around!

But just seen a little girl called Jennifer on TV, and thought it sounded quite pretty!

Dont think it's too over used, and dont mind the NN Jen,Jenni. We like traditional names but have a big family and all the usual ones have already been taken!

What d'you think?

I like. The nn Jenny is lovely (hence my current choice of Genevieve for a girl).

confusedfirsttimemum · 02/05/2010 07:20

I like it! Not very popular at the moment either.

I like Jen as a nickname.

littledawley · 02/05/2010 07:22

Lovely name - Jenny is very sweet for a young girl (although I would spell it with a y not an i) and Jen is quite cool for an older girl. Jennifer is quite classless which means she can go anywhere with it.

(And it has to be Edward for a boy because it's the best boy's name ever )

I think it is lovely. It is a Cornish name-the Cornish form of Guinevere.

Littlefish · 02/05/2010 07:48

I prefer Genevieve to Jennifer, with the same nicknames.

boogeek · 02/05/2010 08:17

I have a baby Jennifer so I am biased

MercyMe · 02/05/2010 08:53

I think it's lovely, really like Jenny as a nn too

sparklyrainbow · 02/05/2010 09:14

I am one and I'm known as Jenny mostly- have never really been called Jennifer, though I like it much more now than I used to. I was Jen in teenage years and through uni, and am still Jen to some people (DH and most friends).

I am glad we are lovely people and I think you should go for it Do spell Jenny with a y though!

Tillyscoutsmum · 02/05/2010 09:15

I'm one and am indeed lovely Go for it !

weegiemum · 02/05/2010 09:18

I like Jennifer a lot, I know 4 I think under the age of 10. Its a great name, has loads of nn potential if that is important (my Aunt was Jeno for years!) and it is due a more general revival I think!

muminthemiddle · 02/05/2010 09:24

Great name. Classic. Go for it.

bubbles12 · 02/05/2010 09:29

Brilliant name. If it wasn't my own name I would use it for my DD!
nn has to be Jenny and I agree with sparklyrainbow - def with a y.

bellissima · 02/05/2010 09:38

Love it. Jenny was our family cat's name - after Jenny any dots in Old Possum's book of Practical Cats. But I think it's a lovely name for a humanoid too!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 02/05/2010 09:40

Nice name. DH has an ex named Jenny, otherwise it would have been on our lists.

tummytickler · 02/05/2010 09:57

Its quite sweet! The aneasthetist at work is always trying to get one of our ladies to call her daughter Jennifer (her name!), but nobody has yet! Come and have a section at my hospital and you would make her year
Other than that it reminds me of my crazy old aunt who looks like Tina Turner!

Cthulhu · 02/05/2010 10:06

I like it. I know a very lovely, beautiful Jenny.

MamaLazarou · 02/05/2010 10:09

Lovely name!

recireci · 02/05/2010 10:09

Very nice name

MoppingMummy · 02/05/2010 10:16

Lovely - my sister is named Jennifer. She has always been Jenny to us and now Jen often too.

ThreeSilverBalloons · 02/05/2010 11:02

Another Jenny here. I've always liked it and think the variety of nn is nice. I'm only Jennifer now when my mum tells me off

Magaly · 02/05/2010 12:00

I like the name Jenny! It was pretty and it's still pretty. It's far less used now, but I know of 3 under 9 so I've a feeling it's not quite as unusual as people think. No idea where it is on the ranking though.

Nice name and she will almost certainly be the only one in the class.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 02/05/2010 12:17

i like it

Rockbird · 02/05/2010 12:59

Lovely name and not overused at the moment.

janeite · 02/05/2010 13:04

Lovely. Pretty and classic and not over-used.
