If you could call your child anything...

... free from thoughts of what people would say, whether its fair to lumber the child with it, how the name sounds shouted across the tesco carpark etc etc, what would you choose?

I would choose:

Girls - Honeysuckle and Pandora

Boys - Wilhelm

(BTW, in real life, my shortlist is Clemency, Clementine, Matilda or Grace for a girl and decided on Felix for a boy - all of which I love of course!)

Tallulah

"Omg Hebe is the lovliest name!"

It usually gets ridiculed on here-gad I´m not the only one who likes it.

It wasn´t used as didn´t go with surname-husband also likes it!

MegSophandEmma · 30/04/2010 18:12

Ava or Lily for a girl

Douglas for a boy.

MrsBadger · 30/04/2010 18:25

Araminta and Antigone, to be known as Minty and Tiggy

I am also secretly jealous of the schoolfriend who named her daughter Pinky Gorgeous

smallishsheep · 30/04/2010 18:26

I would have called mine William, Edward and Alice. Which is thoroughly un-outrageous, but we decided to give them Welsh names so they weren't allowed.

helyg · 30/04/2010 19:18

In fact I would go the whole hog and have a William James and an Edward George as our surname starts with a "J" sound so those middle names would have been out too.

Alice Emily I think.

LynetteScavo · 30/04/2010 19:25

If I had twin boy and girl I would call them Coco and Toto.

Honey.. for a little girl

Jesse... for a boy

CrapSuzette · 30/04/2010 19:44

Tabitha: in memory of my dear-departed first cat
Beelzebub: Because the sound of it always makes me laugh (especially if I imagine Rowan Atkinson as Blackadder saying it) and, well... just for the hell of it...

Lonnie · 30/04/2010 19:51

Flora for a girl (clashes w surname)

Basil for a boy

bran · 30/04/2010 19:59

Ralph pronounced the posh way, or perhaps Rafe to match the pronounciation.

Celeste, I love that name and it makes me think of Babar the Elephant stories.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 30/04/2010 20:18

I agree with bran

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 30/04/2010 20:29

Gabriella Lauren (too Italian apparently)
Verity May (Isn't a real name)
Teddy Gerald (sounds like a gruppy teddy bear)

All DH's comments - love the name that we have for DD but still can't wait for number 2 to try and get my way!

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 30/04/2010 20:31

Lonnie - my pooch is called Basil - he is gorgeous but in hindsight wish I had saved it for a little boy!

SherbetDibDab · 30/04/2010 20:34

Do remember that woman who called her child Ikea. She lives in that unselfconcious world you describe and for that, I envy her.

yama · 30/04/2010 20:35

Zinzan (yes it's a real name), Ptolemy or Rafael for a boy.

Will have a think about girl's names.

Lovethesea · 30/04/2010 20:36

Eowyn for a girl - because I love her character in Lord of the Rings

Tocca · 30/04/2010 20:38

Hero girl
Django boy

bran · 30/04/2010 20:47
