Initials

What do folks think about giving a child a name that means their initials are ET? There are loads of names I like that start with an E, but DH is adamant that if we use any of them the poor kid will be destined to a lifetime of 'ET phone home' jokes!

My DS is only 7 months old so I don't know but do today's kids watch ET? I personally wouldn't think it would be a problem for your DC.

Initials are only a problem if they spell swear words!
There are acronyms for so many things these days, its tricky to avoid.
My DD is EMS (something medical I think) and DC 2 due in 6 weeks could be a EATS if its a boy. NBS for a girl.

That's what I said to DH but he is convinced! (don't think he's as in touch with the youth of today as he likes to think...lol)

ET came out in 1982. That's 28 years ago. Nobody cares any more. Your DH is living in the past, Firsttimer78.

Hee hee, thank you ladies! Husband is now sulking and names beginning with an E are back on the table!

Hardly a bad associatation anyway. ET is pretty harmless, not like swearing or a silly word, or even a bad character.
