Connie/Constance

This is on a similar line to the Theo / Theodore topic. I want to use the name Connie but I know a lot of people think the full name should be used on the birth certificate. However, we have quite a long surname that we always have to spell out and my dh has always said our children should have names which don't have to repeated 100 times. Constance with our surname would be a real mouthful and I know we'd never use it, so what's the point!? Would registering the child as Connie be ok?

Not keen. It's a bit uptight. But it's been getting a lot of love on mn recently!

It's not as bad as prudence though.

Connie is ok and Constance is horrible imo, so obviously I'd say put connie on the bc. But it doesn't really matter so long as she's not called Constance.

What a woolly answer!

Constanza has a bit more zip to it.

saskiacansuckit · 26/04/2010 17:44

Connie is a fat girl's name.

debaronz · 26/04/2010 17:59

I like both Connie and Constance.

I like both, but don't see why you can't just put Connie on the birth cert. What difference does it make?

I know a Sam and a Danny and that's their names, they're not short for anything.

Seems a bit pointless to choose a name you are never going to use, imo.

"cansuckit" are you really going to run with this campaign??

saskiarse · 26/04/2010 20:09

Oh yes Magaly, I have some great plans in store

I don't like Connie but i think Constance is great - both the name and the sentiment...

mintyfresh · 26/04/2010 20:40

I like both - we never use DS's full name which doesn't work with our surname either but I like having it on his birth certificate.

Reminds me of Connie Booth from Fawlty Towers fame!
