Dh and I are discussing this name. We do not know the sex of this dc and it has been on our list each time.

Any thoughts?

If you like it, are there any other names we might like (boy and girls names)

I love the name and would use it if we had another boy.

Merle · 22/04/2010 22:18

Great name.

Gregory?

shona2 · 22/04/2010 22:19

I know two brothers called Anthony and Dominic. Dominic is Dom for short. For girls; maybe Cosima, Lucia, Valentina or Monica.

padraig · 22/04/2010 22:57

I like the name Dominic, fairly traditional but also unusual. I approve.

TheFallenMadonna · 22/04/2010 22:58

Fab name.

swissmiss · 22/04/2010 23:02

Love it, my brother's name.

muggglewump · 22/04/2010 23:05

Really like it, it's my bf's nephew.
Normal, traditional, but never seems to be a lot of them which I like.

muminthecity · 22/04/2010 23:06

I love it, it works for a little boy and a man and Dom is a cool nn for a teenager. Perfect!

Derv78 · 22/04/2010 23:09

Was my dad's name. My DS1 has it as a 2nd name.

My dad's brothers were/are Daniel, Peter, Vincent, John & Michael. Do you like any of those?

deleting · 22/04/2010 23:10

I love it, wanted it for ds2, but dp didn't like it. was very annoyed.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 22/04/2010 23:10

Dominic is a great name. Go for it!

Irishchic · 22/04/2010 23:17

Great name, have always liked it.

ActuallyMyNamesMarina · 23/04/2010 09:37

It's a bterrible name, please don't pick it only joking - it's my DS's name. His friends all call him Dom - you have fab taste [smile. He is almost 20 and whilst it's not an uncommon name you don't get many of them.

Thought about Benedict or Sebastian for him, but Dominic was our favourite

For a girl - Madeline, Clara, Isobel, Juliet, Anna, Violet (Vi- o -let not Vi-let, Susanna, Matilda, Martha, Amelia,

APassionateWoman · 23/04/2010 09:39

Really like it. Not so keen on 'Dom' but suppose it's inevitable.

ActuallyMyNamesMarina · 23/04/2010 09:51

Seems that way - he is Dominic to me, but to the rest of the world he is Dom.

You could always use Nic as a nn if preferred?

Rockbird · 23/04/2010 10:24

I love this name. It is on my list but DH hates it. He hates most of my names Please use it because I probably can't

AbFabT · 23/04/2010 14:27

I love it, and it is my brother's name. It's served him well. Usually goes by Dom, which is cool and manly, I think. Or Dompers or Dozzle! Or when that Domestos ad was out, Big Bad Dom!

His siblings are Barnaby and me, Abigail.

hormonalmum · 23/04/2010 14:29

Thanks for the replies. Some of the boys names that have been suggested are nice alternatives but cannot have them due to surname / family members. (Derv78 - all of yours in fact!!)

I am not overkeen on Dom as someone else mentioned but I guess we could always use Nick as a nn.
Glad to see we may pick something that is liked for both children and adults. Some names I just cannot see a 40 year old with.
It's so difficult!

Really like it. On our list for DC4 if another boy, along with Gregor.

Magaly · 23/04/2010 16:09

I really like it. It was on my list.

tabbycat7 · 23/04/2010 16:18

DS1 is Dominic! I also have an Aidan and a Barnabas. I liked Benedict too but DH didn't. Dominic gets called Dom, Domi and Dombli.

AbFabT · 23/04/2010 16:28

hormonalmum, I will watch this thread! Make sure you update this one when your baby is born please!!!

tabbycat7, sounds like you have similar tastes to my mum then!

Magaly · 23/04/2010 16:34

ILGH, is cutthroatbitch on your list for a girl?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 23/04/2010 16:56

Magaly, I'm confused, what do you mean?
