Hi everyone!

I'm due in June with twin girls and we're still so stuck with names! Here's a list of names that we love:

Elizabeth
Esther
Ramona
Niamh
Hermione
Florence

It's so hard trying to whittle our way down to just two names, so we're hoping that you lot will be able to help! And maybe even suggest some different names to add to our list!

Thanks!

I love Elizabeth and Esther best but wouldn't have two with the same initial personally as it can cause so mch confusion with letters/doctors etc especially when the birthday is the same. I do love the name Florence too. Great choices!

seaturtle · 22/04/2010 09:55

Like them all apart from Niamh. Love Hermione especially.

debaronz · 22/04/2010 10:01

My favourites from your list are Esther, Hermione and Florence.

Prinpo · 22/04/2010 10:09

Esther is great and would go beautifully with Hermione or Florence. If pushed, I'd say Esther and Florence.

Great choices, btw. Hope all goes well.

debaronz · 22/04/2010 10:25

What about Rowena instead of Ramona?

thirtysomething · 22/04/2010 10:36

Love them all apart from Ramona -think it will be very dated in a few years whereas your others are beautiful and classic.

Do wnder if Elizabeth and Hermione are a bit of a moutful when said together?
Agree about Elizabeth and Esther causing confusion though two gorgeous names!

Think best combos from your list are:
Elizabeth and Niamh
Florence and Esther

Other suggestions in similar vein:
Laura
Beatrice
harriet
Susannah
Miranda
Felicity
Maya
Francesca
Elena

stargirl24 · 22/04/2010 13:52

Thanks for all your comments! We do really love the name Esther and we're leaning towards Florence now. Thirtysomething, I love the names Beatrice, Harriet and Felicity too!

We would really love some of the names left over in the list to be their middle names. At the moment we're thinking Florence Elizabeth but not really sure about what would go well with Esther. I don't think the other names go particularly well with Esther (they fit, but I'm not too sure about them together). We really like traditional names.

I love Ramona and Florence.

boogywoogy · 22/04/2010 14:05

I love Esther and Florence together but also Esther and Beatrice from Thirtysomething's list

My sister has twin girls and they are lots of fun.

Hulababy · 22/04/2010 14:11

I love Florence. I also like Hermione and Elizabeth from the OP.

debaronz · 22/04/2010 16:18

From the suggestions so far, I think Beatrice would go best as a middle name for Esther. Or how about

Esther Caroline
Esther Abigail
Esther Imogen
Esther Alice
Esther Naomi
Esther Juliet
Esther Fay
Esther Victoria
Esther Lillian
Esther Gabriella
Esther Miranda

liliputlady · 22/04/2010 16:42

I like Elizabeth and Florence (Lizzie and Flo!)

Valinor · 22/04/2010 16:53

I like Esther and Florence as they seem to pair the best.

Esther Hermione and Florence Elizabeth?

Not keen on Ramona or Niamh.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 22/04/2010 18:20

Elizabeth is timeless and a lovely girl's name and I like Lizzie (slightly biased as I have one of my own). Florence I like, but not Flo or flossie... Hermione is just too Harry Potter.

GladioliBuckets · 22/04/2010 20:09

Ramona's already dated, seems very 70s New York to me. Ramona the moaner.

Esther is my favourite.

Egwene · 22/04/2010 20:10

Esther Hermione has a nice ring to it, and Elizabeth Florence is very pretty.

Marne · 22/04/2010 20:13

I like Esther and Niamh

stargirl24 · 23/04/2010 10:47

Thanks for all the suggestions! We definitely want to use Esther as one of the girls' names. Esther Beatrice, I think, is really nice so that's top of our list at the moment.

Now we're pondering between Florence Elizabeth or Elizabeth Florence! Or maybe something totally different...

If we had a Florence we wouldn't probably wouldn't shorten her name (to Flo or something similar) as we like the name as it is. If we had an Elizabeth then her name would probably be shortened to Lizzie or Eliza.

Esther Niahm & Florence Elizabeth.

debaronz · 23/04/2010 13:13

Do you mind if they both have first initial E? Esther Beatrice and Florence Elizabeth would be very nice.

Clara is a lovely name too! So many names people have suggested are lovely! It's really hard trying to find just two names.

Would it sound strange if they were called Esther and Elizabeth? Is it too much of a mouthful?!

Love Niamh. But as you may probably be able to guess I have a penchant for Irish/Gaelic names.

janeite · 23/04/2010 20:11

Esther and Niamh or Hermione and Florence - love them all. Love Elizabeth too. Don't like Ramona at all, at all.

janeite · 23/04/2010 20:12

Don't like two 'E' names together, personally.
