Jude - for a boy

kimfreeb · 20/04/2010 03:58

Our baby is due mid June so very much on countdown mode now...

We're convinced we're having a boy but are still a little undecided on names. One strong contender is Jude - what are your opinions on this (honestly) as i feel its a bit more out there than some of our other safer bets.

Thanks x x

I love it as a name. It's rather cool and trendy but not TOO much so...

I just wish I could get Jude Law out of my head (but that's just me).

Go for it

Derv78 · 20/04/2010 05:56

Love it. DT2's 2nd name.

littlemisslozza · 20/04/2010 06:52

Well, personally as I don't know any Jude's yet I find it rather girly, sorry.

motherbeyond · 20/04/2010 07:28

my dh is irish and has an uncle juse...i realy like it and would have used it only i have a scouse twang that i let slip when tired/drunk/narked...and it would sound like this..jooooooooooooooooooooooode!

if you can say it properly, however,go for it!!

motherbeyond · 20/04/2010 07:30

not uncle juse, obv, uncle jude!

5DollarShake · 20/04/2010 09:21

I really like it, but worry about teasing potential.

When we were discussing boys names, DH was really pushing for it.

It's a great name, and I was probably being overly paranoid.

youremindmeofthebabe · 20/04/2010 09:23

I love it, Am thinking of it for mine. Or Judah.

whatwasthatagain · 20/04/2010 14:56

Wasn't he the patron saint of lost causes. I know a Jude, and on two occasions Catholic friends have pulled an odd face on hearing his name and asked if he had a difficult birth??? And Jude the Obscure of course, not one of Hardy's lighter tomes.

Shaz10 · 20/04/2010 14:58

Hey Jude was Julian Lennon. Go for it!

lucy567 · 20/04/2010 14:59

Not keen sounds overly trendy and a bit girly
to me.

cumbria81 · 20/04/2010 15:03

No, too girly.

said · 20/04/2010 16:18

I love it. Know one who'll be about 25 now. Named after/inspiredby 'Hey Jude'

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 20/04/2010 16:22

It's nice. I see it as more of a girl's name. But that may just be because I know a child who has it as her middle name.

Missus84 · 20/04/2010 16:23

I love it - am having a boy in July and Jude is my favourite. Unfortunately my DP has vetoed it!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 20/04/2010 20:08

I LOVE Jude for a boy. Think it's lovely.

My friend was calling her son Jude then changed her mind at the last minute to Bailey....

FrazzleRock · 20/04/2010 20:10

I have a friend who has a Jude.
Lovely name for both a girl or a boy

padraig · 20/04/2010 20:11

I'm neither for nor against.

I wouldn't say it's a girly name though.

weaselm4 · 20/04/2010 20:12

It was on my list but was vetoed by DH because of Jude Law . Honestly, who's going to remember him in twenty years' time?

I'm a big Beatles fan, so loooove Jude (got a Beatles name for DD tho - and it's not Eleanor )

mathanxiety · 20/04/2010 20:16

Love it. I don't think of it as girly at all.

I do know one girl whose middle name is Jude (it's considered unusual, though) but then I also know a girl whose middle name is Michael.

lotster · 20/04/2010 20:17

I heart Jude, do it do it!

He will be handsome and cool

weaselm4 · 20/04/2010 20:18

That's cool, mathanxiety - Michael was one of the Bangles and I always thought she was the best for having a boy's name (in my weird teenager way!)

KatiePul · 20/04/2010 20:20

I'm over due by 4 days, and my husband and I have choosen that name for our son so I love it!
