I wanted it for my DS but DH was having none of it. He said it sounded too much like an Irish priest. Not to me it doesn't- I think more of Gabriel Byrne as the devil in End of Days. Yummy!

9 years on (and bear in mind I live in an area where there are lots of exotic and interesting names), DH says he would still veto it.

Very unfortunately "Gay" has become a very common term of insult in secondary, and even primary school. This is, IMO, a real possibility, in contrast to a lot of the names that people come on here with and worry about their DC being bullied over (eg sweaty Betty)

Like it, but it makes me think of Gabriel Oak.

DD would have been Gabriel if she'd been a he. Love love love it. I did worry about the teasing potential for "GAYbriel" and that people would mispronounce it as Gabrielle but in the end, my love for the name won out. Not that I needed it in the end!
