Really torn- help me choose??

Am woried Levi will make everyone think of the jeans, but isn't Nico a girl's name (from the VU singer?)

PS 'Levi' pronounced 'Lev-ee' rather than 'lee-vi'!

Think Nico is pretty unisex but was on our shortlist for a girl. Although VU Nico wasn't exactly a good role model, taking her small son on grotty tours and giving him heroin to sleep through gigs.

Don't like Levi so much, esp pronounced like that, will drive you made for the rest of your life. How about Primo?

tummytickler · 18/04/2010 20:55

I love Levi, but I feel I will be correcting the pronunciation from now until the end of time with a large proportion of the population.
We have Lev on our list - do you like that? You can have it if you do as it is unlikely to make it as far as a ds because I like Mordecai more
Nico is OK. Out of the two I would have Levi.

I love Levi - but I'm wondering if tummytickler has it right - a Lev might be less bother in the long run.

greensnail · 19/04/2010 06:51

I prefer Nico. I've only ever known one Levi but he pronounced it like the jeans

MollieS · 20/04/2010 18:11

I'd say, don't let pronunciation issues put you off. If you like a name you should just go for it as there are many names which could be said in slightly varying ways.
Even Nico could be pronounced 'Nick-o' or 'Neek-o', you see? Both are very nice but I like Levi more.

Good luck!

padraig · 20/04/2010 18:15

Not Nico, people will think he's Italian mafia. Or a girl.

Francagoestohollywood · 20/04/2010 18:26

I like them both.
Mind you, Nico in Italian is the abbreviation of Nicola (which is a beautiful name and not linked to anything mafioso) or Nicolo'/Niccolo' (both posh names)

Jamieandhismagictorch · 20/04/2010 19:22

Levi, definitely, but not pronounced like that ! (sorry)

diddl · 21/04/2010 08:52

Nico.

I don´t think in UK it would be thought of as a girls name.

dinkystinky · 21/04/2010 08:56

Nico. If you're worried about girl's name associations, give him the full name of Nicolas or Nicodemus and shorten to Nico for nickname.

debaronz · 21/04/2010 10:37

Nicholas

Maybe if you spell it Niko instead? Looks more male I think and I know a man called Niko.
