Not too k een. I like Gina but can imagine some mighty teasing

Psammead · 08/04/2010 12:13

Really like it.

SpiderWilliam · 08/04/2010 12:17

IABU but have always thought of it as being a bit boyish. Probably because of George in the Famous Five which would have been the first time I came across it I suppose.

hocuspontas · 08/04/2010 12:17

Love it. It's dd3's middle name. And it will never be a fad name. Just don't spell it JorJeena!

Lifeinagoldfishbowl · 08/04/2010 12:19

(marks place on thread)

It's my name - don't know many others - probably about 8 ranging in age from 3 - 98! I like it.

I don't like girls' names which are prettified versions of boys' names, generally speaking. I prefer that they have a name in their own right. And I don't like the sound of Georgina. Sorry.

crumblequeen · 08/04/2010 13:35

I like it - its on our (rather extensive) list for a girl too. Also like it shortened to Georgie.

There was a Georgina in my year at school and she was known as George but never teased about being a boy as far as I know!

randomimposter · 08/04/2010 21:02

Don't know what the teasing would refer to...? Am I being dim...?

My sister's name, and my oldest friend's too.

Both have been George at times, my sister is usually Gina.

Think it's a lovely name and very underused.

SugarSkyHigh · 08/04/2010 21:16

Oh I love it !! I have a Georgia. But also liked Georgina.

gemcgem · 09/04/2010 08:59

i like georgia ! i don't really like the gina sounding bit on the end!!

pitterpatterfeet · 09/04/2010 09:08

Georgina is lovely and v.classy IMO

Bucharest · 09/04/2010 09:11

Lovely and classy.
I like Georgia too, but Georgina is more interesting and unusual (without being badly so!)

babyincubator · 09/04/2010 09:26

LOVE IT - it also can be shortened to so many different versions - my sister is Georgina and various friends call her - George, Gee, Gina - i call her Nina x

jellybeans · 09/04/2010 12:27

Like it. DDs friend gets called 'Georgie'.

KAEKAE · 10/04/2010 20:48

I like it, my aunt is a Georgina known as Gina.

mathanxiety · 11/04/2010 20:42

I prefer Gina, no George attached (even though that name must not be mentioned).

poshtottie · 11/04/2010 21:10

Love it! Was on my girls list.

Pollyanna · 11/04/2010 21:22

I like Georgia and Georgiana better (not 100% sure how to pronounce Georgiana properly though! and I'm sure that most people aren't)

I like Georgie for short. (our surname is that of a singer called George..... though so not sure that we can use it).

ozmetric · 11/04/2010 21:24

I like it.

southeastastra · 11/04/2010 21:25

georgina's are mad

swanandduck · 12/04/2010 15:14

It's nice (although a bit jolly hockeysticks) but I prefer Georgia.

Housemum · 16/04/2010 13:49

southeastastra - NOW you tell me (have mad 7yo with that name - she is totally barking, the class clown)

MyMamaToldMe · 16/04/2010 14:01

Love the name Georgina.
