DH really doesn't like Rose for a middle name but quite likes these as an alternative.

Which one is nicest?

And also, can we pronounce them:

Rose - line
Rose - lyn

Or does it have to be:

Rozline

Rozlyn??

think they are lovely, but people will annoy you by saying Rozzlin

How about Rosalie or Rosemary - the Rose is already pronounced Rose?

AllieW · 07/04/2010 12:28

I think people will pronounce the first (to go by your OP title, rather than what you have typed in your post) as Rozza-line. Roselyn is more likely to get the pronunciation you would like. Personally, I prefer Rosalie/a, Rosemarie and Rosamund. My friend's daughter is called Rosina, which is another possibility. As is Rosy/Rosie. Rosa is also rather nice.

Ahh - confusing myself with all these Rose names!:

Thanks Greensleeves - Rosalie is also lovely.

I think Rosa - line and Rosa - lie would be pronounced Rose.

It's Roselyn which I think people would always assume was Rozz-lyn.

Ooh - ok AllieW, you think Roselyn is our best bet for pronunciation! That is DH's favourite. I think I like Rosaline.

Yes, I think Roselyn is more likely to achieve what you're after. Having previously had a name which ended in -line I found that people very often placed the emphasis on that in a really unpleasant name, making a name which I already despised much worse.

Rosalie is prettier than either, imho.

Roselyn/Rosaline not the best of the Rose names.

Rosanna, Rosa, Roisin all lovely.
