My friend wants some feedback on the name Luna for a girl!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Skegness · 06/04/2010 20:57

Has she been reading Harry Potter?

ilovepiccolina · 06/04/2010 20:58

No. It's a rabbit name.

legscrossed · 06/04/2010 20:59

bit hippy

JaynieB · 06/04/2010 21:00

I think its rather beautiful - but likely to get more popular. Isn't one of Frank Lampards girls called this?

mintyfresh · 06/04/2010 21:02

I like it but now makes me think of the M&P pushchair!! She would have to get one if she calls her dd this

BillieJackson · 06/04/2010 21:04

Horrible.

katiek123 · 06/04/2010 21:04

I love this name - my DD's friend at nursery was called Luna, she was Muslim and I assumed this was a more common name in their culture - they were a gorgeous family, she was beautiful and always smiley hence my big thumbs-up for this name ever since

weaselm4 · 06/04/2010 21:05

I quite like it - hippyish (which is no bad thing IMHO!) and feminine.

gingertoo · 06/04/2010 21:07

I know a little Luna with a gorgeous halo of blonde corkscrew curls.
The name makes me think of this little girl so therefore I think it's incredibly pretty

Kneazle · 06/04/2010 21:08

loony ?

randomimposter · 06/04/2010 21:10

I know one, her mum is Sardinian. She's 9.

Also Frnk Lamard's daughter is Luna...

Think it needs to flow with the surname... ?

ellesabe · 06/04/2010 21:11

Luna-tic comes to mind!

Hulababy · 06/04/2010 21:18

I don't like it.

It does also remimd me of the Harry Potter character.

lifeas3plus1 · 06/04/2010 21:25

Luna is lovely and if Harry and Hermione are fine to use then Luna is too.

SugarSkyHigh · 06/04/2010 21:30

oh my god that's awful. What is it with people and crazy names these days? Poor child would just be called Lunatic, ffs

Doozie · 06/04/2010 21:32

Luna is moon in Spanish and Italian.

It is pretty but I think the potential for teasing will be huge as you see above.

lifeas3plus1 · 06/04/2010 21:38

I do sometimes think people think far too much into this.

If a child is to be picked on they will be regardless of what their name is although I wouldn't go as far as to name your child Spirit or Aubergine.

Still think Luna is lovely.

OrmRenewed · 06/04/2010 21:38

I like it. But what do I know.

msrisotto · 06/04/2010 21:46

Oh I really like it! And nicknames of loony luna aren't that bad.

pipinmybelly · 06/04/2010 22:19

i know a Luna...and I personally think it is really pretty...something id never use myself or would have thought of but pretty nonetheless

Surprise · 06/04/2010 22:28

Jollster - why the asterisks in Frank Lampard? Is it something I don't know about?

brockleybelle · 06/04/2010 22:30

Makes me think 'loony'.

SE13Mummy · 06/04/2010 22:52

I know a lovely 8-year-old Luna (has long brown hair so the blonde curls may not be linked to the name). It's not the sort of name I'd go for as I tend to opt for more mainstream names but it's a great name for the right person.

BessieBoots · 06/04/2010 22:53

Lovely!

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 06/04/2010 23:03

Gorgeous

I read vic beckham lined this name up for her imaginary dd
but don't let that put your friend off
