Any thoughts my husband likes it and it has a family link. I'm not so keen??

It's cool.

kittywise · 02/04/2010 16:11

sweet

cktwo · 02/04/2010 16:19

As in "what a plonker....."?

tethersend · 02/04/2010 16:21

You could call him 'Dave' for short

Joolyjoolyjoo · 02/04/2010 16:21

Sorry, can only think of Rodders. He would have a lifetime of being called a plonker

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 02/04/2010 16:23

Too fresh in the nations collective memory in the "what a plonkler" sense.

I wouldn't saddle my child with it, go with Dave and then tell him why!

LetThereBeRock · 02/04/2010 16:39

Awful. Perhaps as a middle name but certainly not as a first.

tummytickler · 02/04/2010 17:31

I quite like it. I know a lovely little boy called Roddy, and don't think of OFAH - his friends at school wont know anything about it either.

CelticStarlight · 02/04/2010 17:34

How about Roderick?

dizzydixies · 02/04/2010 18:03

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

nn Rodders

and again

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

arsesandoldlace · 02/04/2010 18:06

I think it's cute! It's a bit 70's but surely that's just being ahead of the trend and pre-empting the next name revival.

Shaz10 · 02/04/2010 18:08

Welease Wodewick!

(Sorry CelticStarlight

KAEKAE · 02/04/2010 18:34

I don't mind it, I went to school with a Rodney, it suited him, we did call him Rodders though.

MrsPixie · 02/04/2010 18:35

You plonker..!

sorry predictably!

sparkleshine · 02/04/2010 18:39

I agree with all the others and the fools and horses connection. Its the 1st thing that comes into my head.
There are sooo many better names out there. BUT if u like it...

Slartybartfast · 02/04/2010 18:50

is your surname trotter?

Shaz10 · 02/04/2010 21:46

You should do it if your surname is Trotter.

easterbun · 02/04/2010 21:53

Rod for short is cool - probably wouldn't be brave enough to use it myself but quite like it!

vaganova · 02/04/2010 23:17

I didn't really ever watch OFAH, yet, "plonker" immediately sprang to mind.

houseworkhater · 02/04/2010 23:20

Agree about the Only Fools and Horses connection.

mathanxiety · 03/04/2010 03:02

"Hooway For Wodney Wat" springs to mind

And I also think of this even though I gather his name is actually Milorad.
