I already have a Poppy Grace, Samuel George and Chloe Belle.
Would Daisy be too 'floral' ?

Any middle name suggestions ?

Esme

Mamadoodle · 07/04/2010 21:04

I have a Daisy and love Esme with it so would say Esme as it also goes well with Poppy!

janeite · 07/04/2010 21:05

Love both of them (have a Daisy). I would go for Esme Daisy.

Mamadoodle · 07/04/2010 21:06

I would pronounce it ez-may...what middle name would you pick for Esme?

vickyob · 09/04/2010 11:07

MAMADOODLE - I have no idea Im struggling enough with First names. Maybe Esme Daisy or my DS loves Amelia which could be a 2nd name choice ?
I would pronounce it Es-may is there another way ?

Esme goes well with your other DC names. If you have a Poppy and a Daisy, Chloe might feel left out? Do you like any of these middle name suggestions?...

Esme Honey
Esme Jemima
Esme Juliette
Esme Fleur
Esme Charlotte
Esme Sophie

I wondered if it might get mis pronounced Es-mee. We are considering for DD2 due in less than 3 wks. Other names we like to go with Daisy are Phoebe, Eleanor, Charlotte (Lottie) and Matilda. Think these goes well with Poppy and Chloe? So hard isn't it! :-)

I like Esme. Based on a previous thread, I'd say that the way it is pronounced partly depends on what part of the country you live in. It seems that in Scotland it is pronounced Es-mee, but I've never heard of it as anything other than Es-may. And if it was occasionally mispronounced, it could always be corrected. It is still a beautiful name.

doozy - I liked Honey for a middle name and my DH laughed in my face.
He thinks its stupid to name her before she's born but as I pointed out we did with the other 3 and he named 2 of them .
I know if we dont discuss options we'll name her and then Ill be posting on her a few weeks later asking if anyone knows how to chnage a name

Aren't Jamie Oliver's two elder daughters Poppy and Daisy. Maybe go with Esme (although Daisy is a lovely name).

lotster · 12/04/2010 13:54

I have a god daughter named Esme (pronounced as Esmee), it's beautiful, although between the two I think Daisy fits in better with your children's other names.

Esme can sound a bit common pronouned Esmaaaaayyy - depending on who's saying it obviously

Whereas Daisy sounds the same whoever says it. Didn't say this to be pompous btw, it's just that I chose a name for my daughter that I'm now finding out can sometimes be pronounced in a way I hate...

CirrhosisByTheSea · 12/04/2010 13:58

Esme is too old lady for me.

Daisy is way nicer! And goes beautifully with your other names

comtessa · 13/04/2010 14:52

Esme - you can always call her Daisy as a nickname.

Jenbot · 13/04/2010 15:01

Esme!

nelly83 · 13/04/2010 15:53

I know an Esme Alexa which is a nice sounding name. How about

Esme Sophia
Esme Rose
Esme Scarlett
Esme Matilda

pointydog · 13/04/2010 16:00

esme. I wouldn't go for two flower names

mumofEandE · 16/04/2010 10:56

We have Esme Violet (after grandmother Violetta)

CakeandRoses · 16/04/2010 11:25

Esme with Poppy and Chloe although Daisy is a lovely name too.

Enna1234 · 12/05/2010 15:06

My daughter is called Esme Paige, we have always pronounced it Es may and only heard the name being pronounced Es mee after she was born!
