Tilly as a nickname.... Short for?

DH likes Tilly but really doesn't like Matilda.
On it's own Tilly for me just isn't formal enough, I need a 'sunday' name for the BC.
Any other names that could sensibly have Tilly as a nickname?

Tilda? Like Tilda Swinton, the actress - not sure if that is already short for Matilda though

Sherbert37 · 31/03/2010 23:32

Tilda? Tis our puppy's Sunday name!

SirBoobAlot · 31/03/2010 23:33

Not really... Have just googled and the only name associated with it is Matilda. Sorry.

BunnyLebowski · 31/03/2010 23:34

Tilda Swinton is Katherine Matilda Swinton.

I can only really think of Matilda.

Am really not keen on Tilly.

Tobermory · 31/03/2010 23:34

Hmmm ok, back to the drawing board!

Around here Tilly is short for the small town of Tillicoultry.

SirBoobAlot · 31/03/2010 23:36

Could you not just have Matilda on the BC and call her Tilly all the time?

BunnyLebowski · 31/03/2010 23:36

We'll help you find the right name don't worry!

It's so bloomin difficult this time around!

DD is known as Bella, Isobel on BC.

Look forward to your imaginative ideas!

Natalie? It would work but I think people might assume she was a Mat(h)ilde.

I love Tilly.

DrivenToDistraction · 31/03/2010 23:42

Myrtle / Myrtille is great

wubblybubbly · 31/03/2010 23:44

I'd have said Natalie too DTD, we had that and Tilly picked out but got a lovely DS instead

DrivenToDistraction · 31/03/2010 23:48

This is a fab book, if you call her Tilly you have to get it for her

ChippingIn · 01/04/2010 06:45

How about Talita?

I know a really lovely, very pretty, little Tilly - so it's grown on me Before that I'd always associated it with Catherine Cookson!! (Yes, Im old! )

CurlyCasper · 04/04/2010 16:07

Only Tilly I know is a Natalie.

Krugerellie · 04/04/2010 16:15

Oh - I like Ottilie.

KittyTwoShoes · 04/04/2010 17:29

I like Ottilie, too. It's lovely.

PineappleJuice · 29/12/2010 11:51

You could just about get away with Talia/Tahlia/Thalia
