Taryn?

I met someone (a 30-ish year old woman) called Taryn on a holiday recently, and the name's been bugging me ever since. I hadn't come across it before, and I can't make up my mind about it.

(I'm not planning on using it, btw. I'm not even pregnant. Just ridiculously obsessed interested in names!)

So... Taryn. Yay or nay?

DD has a Taran in her class - a boy though not a girl. It's Welsh for thunder! Not heard of Taryn though.

They pronounce it Tar-un. I like it!

lifeas3plus1 · 31/03/2010 21:51

Taryn is what we're calling Dc2 due in September if it's a girl.

iskra · 31/03/2010 21:55

My 30 something cousin is called Taryn. I don't like it. But I don't like her either.

However, I kind of like Tarin. For some reason the different spelling makes it a totally different name to me!

notsochickchickchicken · 31/03/2010 22:01

I like it,
wiki says it has multi origins, apparently in scandinavian it means 'little princess'

flameproofsuit · 31/03/2010 22:02

I know someone in her 30s called this, I really like it. Maybe it's the same one, did her surname begin with C?

thecoffeelady · 31/03/2010 23:07

I think it's quite nice, actually. (But then I also like names like Tamsin and that sits in the same space, I think.)

BallpointPen · 01/04/2010 11:32

It's quite nice.

KittyTwoShoes · 02/04/2010 14:34

Thanks all! Looks like a mixed bag... The sites for origins are all very useful though, thanks!

Flameproofsuit, her last name began with a 'K' I believe.

I know of two Taryns - one is about 4yrs old, and another 20ish. I think it is a beautiful name.
