Middle names dilemma - help!

We are expecting DD1 any day now and are still not 100% sure about the middle names.

We've been settled on first name Isabella for months now, with 2 middle names:

either Isabella Mary Anoush
or Isabella Rose Anoush
or Isabella Anoush Mary
or Isabella Anoush Rose

Our surname is 3 syllables starting with M.

It's the Mary/Rose and the order that I'm not sure about. Anoush has the accent on the "ush" btw.
All three of the names have a family connection.

Mary/Rose is the bit that's meant to "pay homage" to my mother; her name is Rosxxxxx but I don't want to use the exact same name as too long/not keen.
Whereas "Mary" is my mum's middle name and mine too.
Which do you think works best, and in what order?

Any opinions welcome

What about Isabella Rosemary Anoush

MadreInglese · 29/03/2010 13:19

I prob wouldn't put Anoush straight afer Isabella, too many A sounds and it will end up said like Isabella Ranoush

Prinpo · 29/03/2010 13:23

Given that Mary is both yours and your mum's middle name, I'd go for Isabella Mary Anoush. It sounds very pretty and it's lovely to have a family connection.

Good luck with the imminent arrival!

Thanks Madre - I see your point about "Ranoush"!
For some irrational reason I just don't like the name Rosemary, even though I like both components separately :O

Thanks Prinpo, that is the most likely at the moment...but I do love the sound of Rose!

Fair enough

Which combo are you drawn to the most?

pinkcamelia · 29/03/2010 15:22

Well originally it was Isabella Rose Anoush but then I thought a) Rose is perhaps overused at the moment and it isn't actually my mum's name anyway, and b) Mary is a mini-tradition in our family so could be a better choice.

Was kind of concerned about having initials spelling "IMAM" but it's probably not such a big deal

Isabella Rose Anoush

hmmm still undecided :O For a chronically indecisive person like me this naming the baby lark is dangerous ground

Anouska Isabella Mary M

Romy is a nice nn for Rosemary (cf Romy 'Rosemarie' Schneider) and combines Rose and Mary too.

How about Romy Anoush Isabella? Or Romy Anoushka Isabella?

mathanxiety · 30/03/2010 22:03

Isabella Romy Anoush/ka?

I don't like Isabella Rose because it sounds like a question.

pinkcamelia · 31/03/2010 15:09

thanks for the suggestions - I thought of Romy too, but DP won't have it!

If you dont like Rosemary why not Maryrose?

if you dont like that (and I know its unusual) then Mary gets my vote as I do like to hand names down

Isabella Mary Anoush but then beaware here initials will be IMAM

mathanxiety · 31/03/2010 17:24

oooh, Maryrose is lovely.

spaghettina · 31/03/2010 18:42

Maryrose is pretty! I know, IMAM is not fantastic but...it's not a swearword or anything so shouldn't be too bad?
