What are your thoughts....good or bad I don't mind!

It's very pretty, but I the first syllable is Lav...... I knew an old one, she said it more like luvinia

umf · 27/03/2010 22:45

No. Sounds like the nasty one in a chalet girls-type mid-20th century teenage novel. And nn Lav.

Ondine · 27/03/2010 23:29

I like it a lot - even considered using it. But the Titus Andronicus connection put me off.

Lavinia meets such a gruesome end - defiled then tongue and hands cut off. It put me off tbh.

My godmother was a Lavinia, known as Vin. She was a fantastic old lady, so I have very positive associations with this name.

ravenAK · 28/03/2010 02:33

agree that I'd be put off by the Titus Andronicus associations. Not keen on victim-y names.

Agree with umf. To me it's a real 50s boarding school name - and yes possibly the nasty or snobby one. Prefer Pamela or Belinda, should you be going down that route.

Teased for Lav

bumbums · 28/03/2010 09:17

Definately strong likelyhood that she'd be teased at school.

BarbaMamma · 28/03/2010 09:25

Love it.

KAEKAE · 28/03/2010 09:47

Hmmmm....I see your point about Lav...That hadn't crossed my mind.

Sorry, I don't like it. What about Laura or Larissa/Lara?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 28/03/2010 10:24

I liked Lavinia too but instantly thought 'Lav'.
