Gabrielle or Gabriella

I am leaning towards Gabrielle as it's maybe less frilly.

Which do you prefer? Do you like it?

Also another question DH says he finds it quite difficult to pronounce. It's the 'bri' bit in the middle and he has to sort of pause in the middle Gab-bri-elle. Does anyone else think it isn't easy to say? I have no problem with it.

I have a Gabrielle and am glad I didn't go for Gabriella it is a bit too frilly for me and the high school musical lead character is a Gabriella.

DP says Gabriela- but one 'L' like the Spanish.

Oh no High school musical.. I have avoided watching that so far. I wonder if it'll lead to a surge in popularity! I'm sure there will be loads more Edwards and Bellas after the Twilight craze.

Well that's another plus for Gabrielle, DH does prefer Gabriella.

BitofFun is that pronounced like Gabriel with an 'a' on the end? Nice if it is.

Whatever you like, I guess, as it would be anglicised, but the Spanish would' still use a short A.

My dd is 7 and HSM mad, when she started Y1 I noticed her name tag was Gabriella so I went in and asked for it to be changed the teacher looked a bit put out and told me dd had told them her name was not Gabrielle but Gabriella so they changed her name tags I told her her name was definitely Gabrielle and she said "Are you sure?" .

7 is the ideal age to have an on trend name, bet the teenage Bellas are happy and the little Gabrielle/or Gabriellas are obviously thrilled .

I remember lying and saying my name was Jessica because I was obsessed with the Sweet Valley High Books when I was about 11.

I prefer Gabriella.

I think they are both nice names but I know what you mean about them being difficult to say. That's the thing that always strikes me about those names and Danielle.
