I prefer Julia. Julie seems a bit of a 1960s name to me.

SugarSkyHigh · 25/03/2010 22:06

I love Julie! It needs to be revived. I know a Julie, aged about 12 now. Her mum said she named her that because she thought it was so pretty and also there are NO julies around now.(young ones that is). I remember her saying how all the midwives were saying that they had not heard that name for such a long time and that it was so sweet.

weegiemum · 25/03/2010 22:08

Like.

(don't say that very often!)

AuraofDora · 25/03/2010 22:14

aw the woman next to me in hospital named her baby Julie it's sweet name
thought folk would be saying yuck actually
lol weegiemaw

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/03/2010 22:16

Julie is a sweet name, Julia even better

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 25/03/2010 22:21

I'm a Julie. I like Juliette better, then she can mess about with it when she's older and can choose to shortern it to Julie if she wishes.

happyjules · 25/03/2010 22:38

It went into to the 70's as well . It certainly would be strange (but nicely iykwim )to here that name more again.

Clary · 25/03/2010 22:44

Now that really is a name I have never heard on a baby.

It's a nice name but a bit soon IMO.

All the mums at school are called Julie (well, the ones that aren't Karen or Nicky or Clare) and are all married to dads called Steve (or Dave)

Fimbow · 25/03/2010 22:48

I like it. A friend of a friend sort of thing is Ju-Leigh!

suwoo · 25/03/2010 22:50

It is a name of my peers (1975) and not one for a baby. This is what springs to mind

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 25/03/2010 22:51

I really like Julia and Juliet, but for some reason am not so keen on Julie.

dizzydixies · 25/03/2010 22:59

not keen, I don't think its due a revival just yet, sorry

Bucharest · 26/03/2010 08:21

I like Julie, I think it's one of those Karen names that those of us old/young enough to remember the glut of them in the 60s/70s can't quite imagine coming round again just yet....(I remember my Gran being horrified at Charlotte and Emma etc coming round in the 80s/90s and saying "but they are Granny names". Our children will no doubt see Karen and Julie as similar....

I always think of Danton's (French Rev) wife. It sounds very glam in a French accent.

5DollarShake · 26/03/2010 09:13

It is a pretty name - but I do also tend to think too soon for a revival. That's just my taste, though.

cakeywakey · 26/03/2010 09:16

It makes me think of Ali G's 'me Julie'

5DollarShake · 26/03/2010 09:21

'Me Julie' for me too, but I don't think it would be a problem for the next generation.

gmtbst · 26/03/2010 09:23

I like it and think it could be due a revival.

suwoo · 26/03/2010 09:49

cakeywakey and 5dollarshake, that is the video I linked to a few posts ago.

Me Joooolie...... something, something, big babylons.........

LittleDonkin · 26/03/2010 10:03

The reason it has come into my mind was from watching look whos talking too! I just think it is sweet for a baby but not a sickly sweet name for an adult.

Clary how did you know my partner is called Steve?

lola0109 · 26/03/2010 12:59

Love it.

25 years ago when my sister was born my mum and dad only had a boys name picked (as they did with all us girls) so I got the job of naming her, I had two dolls, Karen and Julie, and I wanted to name her after my doll. I'm so thankful it was Julie.

It really suits her and I would love to name DD2 Julie, but DP doesn't agree on naming after family.

Maggie00 · 26/03/2010 14:30

It's prettier than say Karen or Claire or Suzanne, but I prefer Juliet. Is that because it's nicer or because it just sounds a bit fresher to my generation??? the latter I suppose. Dated but pretty

suwoo · 26/03/2010 14:58

Julie is not prettier than Suzanne,

Harrumph

Maggie00 · 26/03/2010 14:59

sorry!

boodleboot · 26/03/2010 16:33

yuk.
