My second son will be born in a couple months. Here are some names I like. Any thoughts?

Senne (pronounced Sehn)
Noah
Oliver (nn Ollie)
Ryan
Kahlil
Rajko (pronounced Ryko)
Miles
Bodi

Thank you

Older brother's name is Roshan Orion.

I like Noah and Oliver from your list. Not at all keen on any of the others, I'm afraid. However, Noah and Oliver are apparently both quite popular so that may sway you towards one of your other options.

cookielove · 25/03/2010 18:49

I like Noah, Oliver, Bodi

mathanxiety · 25/03/2010 18:58

Senne -- you will spend a lot of time explaining the pronunciation
Noah -- blah
Oliver -- very nice but very popular
Ryan -- dislike
Kahlil -- very nice, no pronunciation issues, as far as I can see anyway
Rajko -- love this name (and meaning); are you Serbian? Or just like the name?
Miles -- nice
Bodi -- too 'surfer dude' for my taste

You seem to have a wide range of styles there, from very popular and middle class (Oliver, Noah, Miles) to very mainstream (Ryan), all the way to Senne, Kahlil, Rajko and Bodi, which are all very different from the rest and from each other too. With Roshan, (Hindi?) I think I would pick Kahlil, but I love Rajko.

Thanks for all of the responses so far.

I am not Serbian but I love that name. I've heard it once and the guy was very balanced & healthy. I feel that I'd spend the most time explaining pronounciation on Rajko, but I absolutely love it.

Kahlil is from the author of the The Prophet (Kahlil Gibran).

Senne is a new favorite of mine. I wasn't crazy about it and then I thought 'how simple to have a little boy named Senne.' One syllable, no harsh letters, etc.

Roshan is Sanskrit.

Again thank you, and welcome and more thoughts.

Adding one: Willem.

Is that last pronounced Germanically, VermontMama? I quite like it if so.

rubyslippers · 25/03/2010 20:10

i really like Miles

jellybeans · 25/03/2010 20:10

Senne ...ok
Noah...love it
Oliver ...dislike, too popular, bit feminine somehow
Ryan....like
Kahlil...dislike
Rajko ...dislike
Miles...dislike
Bodi...dislike
Willem...dislike, will almost certainly keep being called William

Jamieandhismagictorch · 25/03/2010 22:14

That is an eclectic mixture!

I really only like Kahlil

Willem and Noah are quite nice

EightiesChick · 25/03/2010 22:38

I like Ryan, but not sure it isn't too similar to your elder son's name - they will sound a bit too much like a matching pair rather than individuals. So I'd say Noah.

mathanxiety · 25/03/2010 23:51

I like Willem. Rajko means paradise (or something like that) -- love it too.

VermontMama · 26/03/2010 01:35

Thank you again to everyone for your thoughts. Naming a child is so tough. My first was supposed to be Noah, and unfortunately his grandmother passed away 3 weeks before his arrival. We chose to find a similar name to her's (Rochelle) in light of her passing.

It is much more difficult to choose a name out of thin air, especially when our family names are fairly boring.

Thanks again

Please not Ryan.

vidia · 26/03/2010 19:42

There are 2 names in your list that you have had to put the pronounciation next to. For this reason alone, I would not use either of them.

I like Miles or Oliver best from your list.

BessieBoots · 26/03/2010 19:42

Kahlil! How wonderful to be named after Gibran... And it's a lovely-sounding name, too.

gmtbst · 26/03/2010 23:18

My favourites on your list are Oliver and Noah.

MarianneD · 27/03/2010 12:47

No quite a few Noahs, Olivers, Ryans and Kahlils. All a bit faddy IMVHO

Hulababy · 27/03/2010 12:48

Oliver is by far my favourite. I really like this name.
