Bethan - Not bad
Tess - tickle
Imogen - Like it, but v popular
Martha - prefer Marsha
Eliza - Not very pretty
Delilah - Tom Jons
May - Nice, in an old lady chic way

Nathaniel - He'll be called Flannel
Dylan - Don't like it, don't know why
Samuel - Dull
James - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz the most boring name in the world (sorry)
Joseph - ok
Ewan - naughty boy

Don't think I should suggest any more. As you say, your list is long enough already!!!

GladioliBuckets · 25/03/2010 13:40

Flannel? Spaniel surely?

Is this your shortlist or has your DP vetted them too?

Suggetsions:
Nancy
George

Tess and Imogen for the girls and not keen on your boys names sorry

SqueezyB · 25/03/2010 15:27

DH is about as useful as a chocolate teapot- these are names that I've suggested and he hasn't said no to, apart from Dylan for a boy which is pretty much his favourite!

Eliza is my current new favourite, surprised it doesn't seem popular!

Thanks for suggestions, I do like Zachary actually but DH won't consider it as a friend has a dog called Zack. George I like but there's a fair few of them round here.

Bethan - hate it
Tess - like it
Imogen - like it
Martha - not keen
Eliza - I like it! I like Elsa too.
Delilah - hate it
May - way too many May's as middle names at the moment.

Nathaniel - I love it, but I don't like Nathan. I knew a Nathan who was awful and Nathaniel Hawthorne is a fantastic author.
Dylan - don't like it.
Samuel - classic but I like it.
James - classic but I like it.
Joseph - Nope. not for me.
Ewan - I like it.

Bethan -- dislike, makes me think of plainness and solidness
Tess -- LOVE
Imogen -- too prim-sounding
Martha -- dislike, reminds me of hens for some reason
Eliza -- LOVE
Delilah -- LOVE
May -- meh

Nathaniel -- Like a lot
Dylan -- like
Samuel -- like a lot
James -- like
Joseph -- LOVE
Ewan -- Prefer spelled Euan. With the W it looks like EWwww.

Of your girl's names, I love Imogen but am totally biased. It had been my favourite name for years before we had DD, so there is a bit of me which is a little disappointed that it's become so popular but hey. Great minds and all that. Eliza is gorgeous and definitely nowhere near as popular as it ought to be so that would be my second choice.

(Delilah reminds me of both the biblical story and the Tom Jones song. Neither one is a particularly pleasant character so, despite the name being aesthetically pleasant I would avoid it, personally.)

I like all your boys' names except Ewan. I tend to prefer Ethan. My favourite of them all is Nathaniel.

loobylu3 · 25/03/2010 19:24

Bethan- don't like this
Tess- lovely- so sweet and simple!
Imogen- quite nice
Martha-ditto
Eliza- love! (my DH said no)
Delilah- love this too but some might associate with Biblical character/ various songs!
May- v pretty.

Nathaniel- love and love nn Nate
Dylan- okay
Samuel- like a lot.
James - okay, better as a mn
Joseph- love
Ewan- okay only.

I like Eliza/ Delilah and Tess best for a girl. I do feel they are quite different in style.
Nathaniel or Joseph for a boy, followed by Samuel.

Love Tess and Eliza, Samuel and Nathaniel. Feel 'classier' than the others, somehow.
