Pregnant with dc2. Can't agree at all on boys names.

One of the girls names on both of our 'maybe' lists is Elise/Elyse. do you think?

Dh prefers the 'y' spelling. I'm not sure?

What do you think?

Elyse looks like the French Elysee Palace.
Definately Elise.

Maybe Ellis for a boy?

5DollarShake · 20/03/2010 12:13

Definitely Elise for me too - no competition.

Zapostrophe speaks the truth.

MamaLazarou · 20/03/2010 12:32

Elise. Less fussy.

yama · 20/03/2010 12:42

Ooh, more arguments in my favour. Thank you.

And, yes - the Elysee Palace is very similar ChippingMinton. I wonder if that is what I had against the 'y' spelling in the first place.

Glad I posted. I am now armed.

Elise

Definitely and only Elise, which is lovely.
Substituting the Y changes it completely and sends it into the realms of unique and awful.

I am an Elise, and I prefer my spelling, but I often get called Elsie on registers,in waiting rooms etc.Elyce could avoid confusion for people incapable of reading!

yama · 20/03/2010 14:33

Ellaballo - can I ask if you like you name?

elise - my bf's daughter is called that - its a fab name. also the pronunciation is more definite although it will be speed read as 'elsie' with elyse, it will be mispronoucned 'eleeeez' rather than 'eleece'

cece · 20/03/2010 14:41

I prefer Elsie tbh!

boodleboot · 21/03/2010 08:30
