I have named 3 boys... so why can't I decide on a girls name and be happy with it for more than 2 weeks? :0/ Am not enjoying this at all....

With my boys I had 2 or 3 names we liked and managed to settle on one from about 36 weeks onwards - was nice toname the baby, get used to using the name, sort of giving the bump an identity.

Now I am 36 weeks preg with a girl and I just can't settle on anything for long. I think 'Yes! That's the name' then the more I think about it I end p thinking it's a bit boring and now the baby is un-named again - last 2 weeks she has been called Lydia.

Others include: Elle, Livia, Alexa/Alexis, Lily, Violet and DH threw Avril into the mix last night...

Why can't I do this when I have done it just fine 3 time sin the past?

I feel like I am 'unprepared'.

Sweetkitty - think we have discussed our boy/girl thing before!

Not too bothered if it 'goes with' boys names as we have one with an Irish name and 2 with biblical names - one very obvious!

All 4 letters though for the boys - not worried about carrying that on either.

So now, I am stuck between Anya and Sienna - unless Sienna is destined to explode in popularity....?

Er.... DH just announced he doesn't like Anya... Rats....

Lydia is delightful. Try the Baby Names Wizard book, it is excellent and great fun.

I always wanted to have a name picked so it would be on their bands & cot label but we couldn't decide

Lydia is lovely and the comparison your friend made would never spring to my mind and as someonelse said you could think of something to put you off most names

Lydia is a gorgeous name! I know a very beautiful Lydia but she spells it Lidia which I'm not as keen on.

Don't worry about the rhyming thing, it probably will never happen.

LadyOfTheFlowers I like the name Violet, and also Grace and Lydia. Are you really into flowers (hence your name)? It almost seems as if there is too much choice not too little!

If you want a name of substance I think something like Sarah is very good but it is quite popular, or has been in the past. Maybe if you think how you came up with your boys names it will give you some clue to a girl's name...did you name them after family members/characters you admired/names that depicted strength of character (to you) or ones you simply liked the sound of? Some of the names mentioned are Bible names, would you like Bible names/old fashioned/more modern. Maybe if you narrowed it down you could find something nice. Good luck, sad to see a sad icon, what a great dilemma to have!

We've just had dd after 3 boys - the boys were so much easier to name (sign of things to come ???). We registered her with 40 minutes to spare though that was mainly because I was agonising over the fact that what I really wanted to call her is very similar to my niece's name.

Anyway. Sympathy. Not convinced by Sienna. What about Daisy? Or Kate?

Daisy is picking up quite sharply isn't it? Kate I like, but is a bit.... plain..? I don't know....

Sienna just makes me think of Miller I'm afraid. I like Daisy but it is getting popular. I agree Kate is a bit plain. I like Kitty though

I think of Miller too. Daisy always seems a bit wispy and insubstantial to me. Same with other weed/flower names.

I think Lydia is a beautiful name. I know a couple of teenaged Lydias and neither have been called Lydia chlamydia. The Lydias that my DH has taught have also never had that nickname thrown at them.

Lydia is a much nicer name than Sienna and would sit well with your sons' names if two of them are biblical. How about Kate or Daisy as a middle name? I like the sound of Lydia Mary and know a Lydia Ruth.

For alternatives you could try looking on www.nameberry.com, if you type in your sons' names it will give a list of 'similar' names.
