What do people think of this name? From the eponymous c19/early c20 books by Colette...

I'm also wondering if it's too popular?..

Worrying that although I have read Colette, my first literary association was the somewhat less rarefied Enid Blyton.
I like it. But either way she is bound to be a naughty little minx.

5DollarShake · 16/03/2010 11:07

Totally what TheFirstLady said.

Kwini · 16/03/2010 11:08

LOL - I have the Enid Blyton connotations, too!

I though Colette first, smug or what, LOL!
Certainly not popular at the moment.
Not liking it much, too "precious" for me.

Helenastar · 16/03/2010 14:06

I am too thinking of the Enid Blyton Books, but I think Claudine is a very pretty name

Jamieandhismagictorch · 16/03/2010 15:09

I do like it

I prefer Claudia though

dizzydixies · 16/03/2010 15:17

I don't like it sorry, I know a Claudette which I think is equally awful

Claudia lovely even if its got a rather disappointing meaning

swanandduck · 16/03/2010 15:58

It does immediately remind me of the St Clare Books. I think Claudia is beautiful though.

MaggieSilver · 16/03/2010 16:18

I only know of one and she's about 30. Really beautiful girl, so it seems a good choice to me. I would have preferred Claudia a few years ago, but names ending in -ia or very 'now' so for that reason, Claudine stands out right now.

5DollarShake · 16/03/2010 16:22

I like it a lot, by the way. And agree with Maggie that it is distinguished by it's 'ine' ending instead of a predictable 'a' ending.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 16/03/2010 17:38

That's true "a" has become the new "ie"/"y" as far as girls names are concerned.

MamaLazarou · 16/03/2010 19:43

Nice, but prefer Claude or Claudia.
