Hi all,

What is people's opinion on Erwin.

We think its quite nice, traditional not too formal.

But, I have to ask, can it be shortened?

shortened to Winnie! Not sure what I think of it - it does have quite a nice sound to it. Will have to mull it over.

I really like it. What's it mean?

Good question, just looked it up and its a Welsh name which means "Handsome and Fair".

Well, that's sorted then

Tis also German -- Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, the Desert Fox. Hitler allowed him to commit suicide rather than be tried and executed for his alleged part in the July Plot of 1944 against him.

There's Irwin too isn't there - sounds American? I think Erwin is fab and you should go for it.

DH is German. Erwin sounds like the name of one of his uncles, quite old fashioned.
