Peter with Michael as a middle name. Is it too much like Peter Schmichel(don't know how to spell it) as in the old Man Utd goalkeeper? Or can people suggest other good first names that fit with Michael as middle name ..really like Peter though.....

I think it's fine. Those are great names, glad to see there are people out there who like "proper" names and not all these trendy names like Jaydan and Kai (way to brand your kid a chav!). I doubt anyone will remember that footballer bloke much anyway, it wouldn't have occured to me had you not put it in.

If you are worried why not reverse it to Michael Peter instead?

Other names that would go...Phillip, David, Christopher, Simon, James, Joshua etc.

I love the name Peter! I have 3 dd's so no chance to use it. No one will remember the goalkeeper. Peter Michael is just perfect

differentID · 12/03/2010 21:42

Dexter is on our list to go with Michael.

I love Peter - it is one of ds's middle names - just gorgeous and so underused.
Peter Michael is lovely.

Love love love Peter. Was my darling dads name and I would have used it for a DS's middle name but had DDs so won't have the opportunity. Go for it!

SqueezyB · 14/03/2010 09:59

I actually love it - would be on our list if it wasn't for the fact it was my 1st boyfriend's name...

Bucharest · 14/03/2010 10:00

Love Peter, love Michael!

MrsCadwallader · 14/03/2010 10:27

Love it! Is DS1's middle name.

boodleboot · 14/03/2010 10:33

i absolutely do not like peter....michael is ok.

bellissima · 14/03/2010 11:14

Like it. Like it much better than a number of names that are popular now. And overly popular - how much nicer to be the only Peter in the class rather than one of four Thomases!

givecarrotsachance · 14/03/2010 13:01

Awww so nice to see this! My DS 5 1/2 is a Peter and it's great, as it's a "normal" name so he doesn't stand out, yet there's virtually no others around! I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if little Peter in "Survivors" was reunited with his mum as he's the only other child Peter I have come across!!!

Mine's got Thomas second, which I loved but felt it was too over-used for a first name. Michael is a great name. One of the Arch-Angels of course, and less poncy than Ariel, Gabriel or Raphael (although if we didn't live in Yorkshire I would SO love to name DS2-to-be Raphael as I love all three but this best!!).

Anyway, obviously a thumbs up from me.

0percypig0 · 14/03/2010 13:21

Love it! It was a real contender for my ds and will be the middle name if I have another boy!

j0807bump · 14/03/2010 14:11

peter i like
peter michael i really like, but then again The Great Dane was the best goalie we ever had

i do not think though people will make the connection unless you tell them though

DinahRod · 14/03/2010 14:21

Lovely

menomena · 14/03/2010 14:27

I love Peter!

Does the middle name have to be Michael? Never been overly keen on it but it's a decent name, can't really go wrong with it. I don't think Peter Schmeikel (also no idea on spelling ;)) is a problem really.

HelenDoula · 14/03/2010 20:35

Peter is Ok .... reminds me of school in the 70's/80's, it also makes me think of a willy as americans say peter as a nickname for penis !!! not that is matters here !

Italiangreyhound · 15/03/2010 01:13

Peter is a lovely name, the abbreviation Pete is warm and friendly and it is a great name.
