Ga(e)len original and fine.
Kaelin looks made-up - sorry, don't like it at all, reminds me of kaolin
Andrew - Great
Martyn - don't really like it

thanks waswondering - I love Andrew but DH has a friend called Andrew so he's not keen on that idea I'm not really sure why that matters...the others we've discussed today and agreed they are 'maybe's'

Andrew is lovely.

The others are all horrible imo. Sorry.

lovechoc · 12/03/2010 21:10

jkklpu that's what I thought of Kaelin too.I looked it up on a baby name encyclopaedia site and it is a distant form of Callum, so I'm not not sure I want to go down that route (Irish Celtic I think).

Carry on with the honest comments please because I need to know whether the names are favourable Saves me having to ask family, would rather keep the name secret until baby boy arrives.

At work there is a Kaelin pronounced Kaylin although everyone seems to pronounce it Kyelin which could be annoying.

Gaelin is this pronounced Gaylin? If so I think it is a definate no. Even pronounced Guylin it's not my cup of tea.

Andrew is lovely.

Martyn not keen on this either, I think it's because I have never known a Martyn/Martin who wasn't dull.

DD2 is at school with a male Keelan- but this is Cork, where we are rebels. I know another one but am unsure of his spelling, doubtless a 'correct' spelling; I also knew a girl with this name years ago.

janeiteisFedUp · 12/03/2010 22:05

Andrew is fine. Kaelin is awful, sorry.

foreverastudent · 12/03/2010 22:57

andrew is the best but dont like it shortened to andy

lovechoc · 13/03/2010 08:54

I'm thinking Andrew is the best personally so far, unless we come up with another name in the weeks leading up to the birth.

Ta for all the comments so far, I'm appreciating the negatives as well. I don't want the poor wee man to end up being bullied at school. I also had a thought last night that if he was a Gaelen there's a chance he would get picked on with 'gay Gaelen', so am thinking this is definately a no-no now.
