Hi mn's which would go better with ds1 Ellis James?Remy or Buster?
Dh loves Buster I don't really like it..If I put my foot down I think he'll go with Remy(I know he doesn't mind the name-he's just contrary..)
Also a distant friend has a Buster (and her eldest son is Blu)

Wow. Hobson's choice.

Buster sounds a bit threatening. Like what guys call each other when they're trying not to punch each other.

Remy is the better of the two names but it's a bit girly.

orienteerer · 10/03/2010 16:52

Not Buster

cyteen · 10/03/2010 17:04

Buster Gonad/Bloodvessel are the most immediate associations for me. Remy is not my thing either.

Ellis is a great name, though

Heated · 10/03/2010 17:06

Sorry, neither given their associations.

i thought Remy was a girls name - i love it for a girl but not for a boy. (im thinking of 13 in House!)

not mad on Buster either im afraid.

paisleyleaf · 10/03/2010 17:17

I'm that age when children in school with some learning difficulties were called remedial, and remie by unkind other children.
I just couldn't use it.

BravoJuliet · 10/03/2010 17:17

what is 13 in house's real name supposed to be? I thought I was hearing it wrong.

catinthehat2 · 10/03/2010 17:18

Good for Staffordshire bull terriers, not for human beings.

ThatVikRinA22 · 10/03/2010 17:22

13 is called Remy!

BravoJuliet · 10/03/2010 17:47

oh right. next question, why do they call her 13?

nighbynight · 10/03/2010 18:07

Remy or Buster??

you are naming a puppy, right?

paisleyleaf · 10/03/2010 21:25

Why are there so many Remy and Buster threads?

ThatVikRinA22 · 10/03/2010 21:26

bravo - she is called 13 cos that was her number when he was recruiting - he had 40 candidates and she was number 13! he named his other candidates things like Cut Throat Bitch and Big Love...i absolutely love House.

i really like Remy as a name for a girl though! Buster on the other hand....

BravoJuliet · 10/03/2010 21:30

Oh thanks for that! I'd wondered and couldn't figure it out. I only got into House series 4. I should watch the first 1-4 as well.... lol at cut throat bitch.

CinderellaRach · 11/03/2010 08:14

Oh no nightbynight you think of Remy as a puppys name..

nighbynight · 11/03/2010 17:20

Sorry, cinderalla! It is the sort of name I would call a puppy or a horse - if I met a small boy called Remy, I would probably think he was the class bad boy.

GuntherMcKilocodie · 11/03/2010 17:34

Really? Seriously? Don't like either, previous poster is right they are dog's names. Also reminds me of the rat in Ratatouille.

pooka · 11/03/2010 17:40

Now I wasn't at all keen on Remy in your previous thread. However, compared to Buster, it is now a wonderful name (if it really is a case of either one being the name).

I agree that Buster is a bit threatening. Would see it as the name of a fierce dog or a doorman. Brings to mind Buster Bloodvessel. Also isn't a particularly affectionate name. So if I was being firm with ds1, I would possibly say "all right buster, get your shoes on NOW". Not a very endearing name.

Still think Remy needs to be said with full on French accent, rolled 'R'. But is infinitely preferable to Buster/

pooka · 11/03/2010 17:42

Oh god! Had forgotten about Buster Gonad!

MmeLindt · 11/03/2010 17:43

I quite like Rrrrrrremy as a French name (like the rat in Ratatouille). Not sure about a boy's name in UK.

Buster is terrible, sorry. Sounds like an East London hard man.

Ineedsomesleep · 11/03/2010 18:20

Name him Buster Bloodvessel, just so that you can play "Special Brew" at his Christening.

mathanxiety · 11/03/2010 18:40

Buster is a dog's name, but not a poodle unless you're trying to be very ironic. Remy is fab, imo.

seeker · 11/03/2010 18:43

Buster Hymen and The Penetrations.

They exist. Honestly. Known as The Penetrations these days.

tiredfeet · 11/03/2010 18:43

Buster is a dog's name. Probably a small vicious dog.

Remy is meh.

sorry.

CuppaTeaJanice · 11/03/2010 18:49

I had a friend at college with the nickname Buster, after Buster Gonad. He had a very small bottom so when he sat with his legs up and slightly apart his testicles looked huge - even with trousers on!
