The name Persephone - problems?

For our first dd we are thinking of the name Persephone. I'm liking the nickname Seffy and dh likes it too.

I may be overthinking this, but I worry that the pronunciation won't be universally known and may cause embarrassment to those who don't.
There is also the problem that it will be seen as pretentious or poncy. I used to think this and wondered if this is still the case?

Ok, so what do you think?

Lovely name. Yes, people will mispronounce it, so what? Educate them!

I think it's very pretty.

It may be true that you can't control nicknames to a certain extent, but that may depend on how often you use them yourself. Our Imogen is most frequently known as Immy and, even at 2, she will occasionally correct people who call her Imogen even though that is actually her name! If it becomes ingrained in their head then they will tell their classmates to call them by their preferred name.
