DS2 is due in 2 weeks - torn between Raphael and Xavier. Think I prefer Xavier but DP prefers Raphael. Interested to see which is more popular.

I love Raphael....Good Luck

weegiemum · 05/03/2010 07:07

Em ...neither!

Madigan · 05/03/2010 07:10

don#t like either .... bit "too much". How about Ralph/Rage?

Madigan · 05/03/2010 07:10

I meant Rafe, rather than rage!

Kyrie · 05/03/2010 08:37

Both very nice.

I'd go for Raphael. Xavier has a few way to be pronounced and it could be annoying when people get it wrong.

jasper · 05/03/2010 08:46

A bit teenage mutant ninjaish, and agree with Madigan on the too muchness, but still quite cute.

MathsMadMummy · 05/03/2010 08:51

I love Xavier - assuming you mean the proper french way so the x is like a z? I had that name on my shortlist but DH said he'd want to pronounce it 'ex-avier' like in x-men...

having said that I like Raphael too. very cultured!

castille · 05/03/2010 09:01

Both quite popular here in France atm. I prefer Raphael.

Twinkster · 05/03/2010 09:02

Raphael.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 05/03/2010 12:24

Raphael, by a mile

blouseenthusiast · 05/03/2010 12:26

Rage, hee hee hee
Raphael I like.

Tortoise · 05/03/2010 12:31

I love Xavier (pronounced as a z).

patternedcarpet · 05/03/2010 16:34

Raphael

Gangle · 05/03/2010 17:44

Thanks all. DP is half French so not as out of context as it may first appear. Agree about the issues with people pronouncing Xavier incorrectly.

Weegie/Madigan, if you don't like either then why bother to comment???

Sorry, very hormonal and emotional at the moment!

I would choose Raphael, was on the list for what turned out to be dd (spelt Rafael as we were living in Spain).

But I like Xavier too, I would have thought that most people would be able to pronounce it, its hardly the most way-out name there is around . . . France is pretty close! I like the shortening Xavi a lot, too.

stleger · 05/03/2010 18:13

I like them both. One ofdh's colleagues is Gabriel Raphael, which I love! (Sadly shortened to Gaybo in Ireland...)

seashore · 05/03/2010 18:15

Hi,I like Xavier, pronounced with the z, but a wee warning, it seems to be becoming popular! Am sure it will never be the next Jack, but could shoot up into top 10. Wouldn't bother me, but just thought I'd mention it as there was that thread were a mum regreted how popular her dd's name had become.

Also, between the two, Xavier is my fav. [Smile]

Caitni · 05/03/2010 18:23

Xavier - love it (pronounced with a z)

loobylu3 · 06/03/2010 21:13

I love Raphael
