Can you help me think of boys names that fit this criteria?

Cannot be shortened to form a nickname
Not too modern
Not too old fashioned
Not common (chavy or overused)
Not posh
Has to be longer than 3 letters as surname is very short

My husband and his brother are Ian and Stephen and they grew up calling each other 'Ee' and 'Stee'.

I also have this problem same as OP. we have one syllable surname and it's proving difficult to find a boy's name we both like with more than one syllable. I feel your pain!lol

Another one here, one syllable surname and desperately seeking a boys name.

DP and I cannot agree on anything so far.

All my girls have 3 syllable names and all are shortened in one way or another, think it is inevitable sorry.

it's so difficult isn't it?? we can't agree on anything I'm not going to get down about it, got another 20 weeks to go aswell, so ordered some books out the library to go through each night, to scroll through endless lists of boys names.

Thank goodness it's only the ONE gender we need to find a name for!lol

girls names are so much easier to agree on compared to boys names IMO.

We have excactly the same issue - a short one syllable surname. We were really struggling to find a name for ds, but finally decided to name ds Quentin. So far (he's 7 now) nobody has shortened his name (and he loves having the initial Q ).

I agree I went through the entire register of Scottish names from last year and nothing jumped out at me.

This is baby no 4 and we have 3DDs so were fully expecting another DD so had her names chosen but turns out DD4 is a DS so we are utterly stumped.

I let dh choose ds's name, as I couldn't think of a single boys name I liked. My ds has grown into his name, it suits him, he likes it and I quite like it now too!

The same thing would happen again though if I ever fell pregnant with another boy - I just don't like anything enough.

I used to have two single syllable names. I mean a short first and last name so altogether my whole name had two syllables. I used to like it but got married and now have a longer last name.

Yes it's me. Fimbow was my christmas name, decided to keep it as a more feminine edge, seeing as Fimbo is a boy n all.

Yes, my husband is Ian and has been called 'i' my several people!

We have an Amber who is called Am - or Burger (as in 'amburger, I assume!)

And a Poppy who is known as Pops, PoopLoop, Poopie (or bum head, by her younger brother - delightful!)

You just can't win!!!
