I have been thinking about this a lot recently - firstly wondering why it is not more popular, and now i am really loving it. Dh says he loves it too. What do you think of Angela? It hasn't got as much 'zing' as our other girls names (Juniper, Miriam, Joy), but is so pretty.
However, my old aunt is called Angela. and whilst she would be delighted I think my other aunts and mother would be a bit miffed!

So is it too old, or good for a mini revival?

And any good mn's? I feel it should be paired with something a bit flowery/eccentric! (Marigold, Lilibeth, Joy, etc)

I like it, but everyone does seem to have an auntie called Angela!

My aunties mn are Ellen Elizabeth. DH's auntie is Angela Marie

I've never liked it- even back in the 70's/80's.

Angela is dated but not ugly I guess. Angie is just..... it sounds rude. I prefer the other names on your list. Miriam Joy.

Marigold is nuts but I like it.

I have an Angie (Angela on Birth certificate)- she is 15mo, and it really suits her.

I think it's a bit boring tbh (sorry tummytickler & tethersend). I didn't like it in the 70's/80's either - so hope it doesn't become popular again.

It's ok chippingin- one of the reasons I chose it was because it's unusual and is likely to remain that way because- like you- not many people like it

If you go for it OP, be prepared for lots of fixed smiles and "OHH"s when you tell people her name

Very occasionally I get asked if it's after the stones song... which it sort of is.

im an Angela! and i think its a bit posh sounding and dosent really suit me - im a bit of a tomboy .

so at the end of primary school i decided i would be Anji. and thats the name i use all the time, even in my professional work time.

TBH i do get lots of comments as i guess its a bit unusual? people love the spelling. i just wish i was Anji on my birth certificate.

as others have said, aslong as you like it it dosent matter what anyone else thinks.

It's one of those names that will have a revival, but in another generation's time.

Thanks all - I am feeling quite positive about it! I am not sure if it is 'the one' though - the family thing worries me!
I guess we will keep mulling it over - I am definately loving it more and more though! Any more opinions welcome!
tethersend - I am a Stones fan too, and that song is incredible - I hadn't even thought about it! My other dd's have names after literary or musical influences so it would fit into that too!

We lived in the US for a while and came across both an Angelin and an Angeli - prettier, I thought.

No, sorry! It's just one of those names I will never like!

My children have three Auntie Angela's (my sisters-in-law), so not a first name I would give my children, it would be too confusing.

But I think it's a nice name and probably time for a revival.

My mother is Angela Mary - I quite like it, but you'd better hope your dd will be angelic....

I'm not a big fan tbh though, it does sound dated to me.

I can't stand it, it's just so dull sounding....reminds me of flange, which I think sounds rude.

It's pretty. I know a 20 year-old Angela and she's lovely.

I also quite like Angel (there was a lady in our village called Angel Luxford) but it's a bit much to live up to and folk tend to think of it as a masculine name without the extra a now.
