DH and I have both decided we like the name Alexander for a boy.

We also both want to use the name Robert as a middle name - it's my grandfather's name and DH's dad's name.

But I really don't think Alexander Robert sounds very good together with all of the rrrr's. + our surname begins with D and together it all sounds quite harsh and I don't like the initials ARD either!

Can anyone suggest a third middle name (either before or after Robert) to improve/soften it?!

Cheers

Alexander Robert Charles....altho personally i think Alexander RObert sounds ok.

Alexander Robert sounds fine to me! I wouldn't add any other name, personally. I don't like more than one middle name.

I think Alexander Robert is acceptable.

What's the big deal with the initials?

How often do you initial something - and when you do, do you use all your initials or just your first and second name?

Would you call him Alex or Alexander on a day-to-day basis?
I can't see the problem with any of your 3 issues.

Rindercella · 25/02/2010 14:08

Alexander Robert goes well together imo.

LadyCressida · 25/02/2010 14:12

I'd go with Alex on a day to day basis.

I don't know - perhaps I'm just being too fussy but it just doesn't sound quite right to me and I don't want to pick something that I think just sounds 'okay' ...

hmmm

It sounds fine, I think you've just been rolling it round your head too much!
