Ooh - I love all of the names.
I love especially like Byron and Gabriel and Lorien.

Other similar style ones that I can think of are:

Dylan
Lucas/Luca
Fabien
Flynn
Finley
Owen

When you said suggestions - wasn't sure if you meant advice about your suggestions or you wanted more name suggestions?

compo · 24/02/2010 18:58

I like Morgan
none of the others though

AllieW · 24/02/2010 18:59

I appreciate that's quite a mix (and not all of them are to my taste) but you never know what other people may unexpectedly like!

Blanchet · 24/02/2010 18:59

I would definitely think Lorien was a girl. Have heard of it being used on girls a few times (from LOTR isn't it?), and it sounds so much like Lauren.

I like Gabriel the best from your list.

Love Phoebe btw! Imogen lovely too!

luciemule · 24/02/2010 19:02

Think Lorien is the boy's version of Lorienne.

luciemule · 24/02/2010 19:05

Could be wrong - lots of name sites say it's a girl's name. Perhaps the proper french name is Laurien and Laurienne for a girl.

mathanxiety · 24/02/2010 20:52

Just Gabriel.

motherbeyond · 25/02/2010 08:35

yes, think have gone off lorien..it's a bit effeminate.luciemule i already have a finley!i like flynn and quinn but we call him fin,so would be weird!!

i definitely would have gone for quinn, actually.

do like morgan, but dh is now saying its "chavvy"..i think not

it's SO hard to find a nice name.
i like unusual names, rather than traditional, and dh is irish but can't find any we like..driving me mad.

didn't see any on the list that struck me im afraid..other than hugo and reuben, but dh has already vetoed

Byron

motherbeyond · 25/02/2010 13:00

do you not find byron possibly a bit...pretentious?

OP posts:
MrsKitty · 25/02/2010 19:25

Hmmm, I see where you're coming from, but I think the others are more poncey TBH. (Apart from Morgan which is dreadful - I agree with your DH's opinion on it)

MrsKitty · 25/02/2010 19:33

I think Finley & Byron sound pretty good together too.

Alternatively, how about

Lachlan
Logan
Marlow
Braden

butadream · 25/02/2010 19:38

Sorry but I thought Morgan was another girl's name as in Morgan le fey of Arthurian legend?

AshleyFanjo · 25/02/2010 19:41

I agree with husband that Morgan is now popular girls names amongst the chavs - sorry for being rude.

I love Gabriel.

motherbeyond · 26/02/2010 17:38

i think with braden and logan,we may be venturing into jordan's world!

ashleyfanjo think i agree with you now,was at soft play centre today and the very young worker there, chewing gum, croyden facelift etc said really loudly "ahh,i love the name morgan" i was like ffs!

OP posts:
motherbeyond · 26/02/2010 17:43

also morgan is unisex...actor morgan freeman?

i like gabriel, but dh is wottied that he'll get called "gay" at school and teased.

also, our surname is gallagher,so might be a bit much..gabriel gallagher?!!

i really like gabriella too,but try putting that together with our surname!!

OP posts:
motherbeyond · 26/02/2010 18:12

wottied?? worried!

OP posts:
Snowtiger · 26/02/2010 18:16

I like mrskitty's list - Lachlan is a great name and would go well with Gallagher, Motherbeyond.

MrsKitty · 26/02/2010 22:19

motherbeyond Bit out of touch with the world of Celebrity, but if Braden/Logan have any connection to Jordan, then yes, avoid! . Still like Byron & Lachlan though.

(Love your name BTW motherbeyond- I met Nathan from Brother Beyond many moons ago & he was Lovely!)

diddl · 27/02/2010 08:20

Byron is fantastic.

motherbeyond · 27/02/2010 08:26

hd not sold on lachlan.
mrskity thankyou!took me a while to come up with it...tbh wasn't a fan (few years ahead of my time) but thought it was apt for mn!!

OP posts:
LaDiDaDi · 27/02/2010 08:32

Sorry Op but whilst I love your girls name choices I don't like any of your boys name ones. Dp and I were pretty stuck for a name for ds too but we decided by looking back at our older long lists.

Do you want something modern and unusual or could it be oldfashioned/trad but underused?

motherbeyond · 27/02/2010 12:55

i know, boys are much more difficult! well,i do like the traditional names, henry, william etc but dh is irish and doesn't like old english names/names of monarchy..i really liked harry but with his accent (which usually makes everything sound lovely)he says "horry" it sounds as if he's going to say horrible. so that's a no go. i do prefer unusual.my name was very common, about 4 in my class and i hated it. my other two have non traditional but not unheard of names.

would quite like tomething irish, but can't see any i like.

OP posts:
Maria2007loveshersleep · 27/02/2010 14:33

I love Gabriel.

Morgan: NO.

Lorien is interesting but you say you don't really prefer it. I would prefer Laurie for a boy.

Your girl names are all beautiful.

BridesheadRegardless · 27/02/2010 15:59

Gabriel is lovely.

Your Dh is right about Morgan.

I don't like the others.

may I offer Gideon?
