I like the names Patience and Beatrix for a little girl. What do you think?

Patience lovely. I also like Verity.

frakkinaround · 21/02/2010 13:29

Much as I like the name Patience it always seems to me you're saddling the poor girl with a lot to live up to and sods law dictates she'll be the most impatient child on the planet!

Plus can you hear yourself saying 'Please be patient, Patience'? Or 'don't be so impatient, Patience'?

Beatrix on the other hand is lovely.

Blanchet · 21/02/2010 13:44

"Patience, patience".

I would not like to be saddled with it, sorry. Beatrix is much, much nicer imo.

Beatrix is lovely, Patience would be very odd if you have a girl with bundles of energy.

planttheonions · 21/02/2010 14:12

I love this name. DD was nearly Patience but she most certainly isn't.

CuppaTeaJanice · 21/02/2010 14:21

Beatrix is lovely. As long as your surname isn't Potter, obviously.

Patience, however, is the primmest (is that a word?) name I've ever heard. I think she'd have to live on the set of a costume drama, and just dance around all day holding a bouquet of narcissi.

It might work as a mn, eg. Beatrix Patience

loobylu3 · 21/02/2010 20:17

I like Beatrix.
Patience sounds far too serious and prim. I like Primrose though, despite the 'prim' at the beginning.

hogshead · 21/02/2010 20:25

Patience always reminds me of a character in the book Jamaica Inn. i like Beatrix though

SE13Mummy · 21/02/2010 20:30

Patience, like Mercy is a name I will always associate with cheery Nigerian ladies as they are the only people I've ever met with those names.

I prefer Beatrix/Beatrice.

dizzydixies · 21/02/2010 20:50

Patience whilst pretty is asking an awful lot of a toddler

Beatrice is lovely

Wonderstuff · 21/02/2010 20:56

cece I wonder if we have friends in common?

cece · 22/02/2010 23:02

I don't think so wonderstuff. What makes you think that?

Lotster · 22/02/2010 23:17

I think it's rather lovely.

Not as hard to live up to as the name Cher gave her daughter - "Chastity"

That said the only two Patience's I have met have been big jolly midwives!

Lotster · 22/02/2010 23:18

Oh, and Beatrix and Bea for short are really lovely.

ChynaDoll2006 · 23/02/2010 08:55

I like Bea or Bebe for short. Not sure about the full name though. Patience is nice, lacks nn possibilities though.

Lotster · 23/02/2010 12:51

Pat? ;-)
