hoping for some honest opinions on my name shortlist

i already have to girls named

daisy annabelle and
grace emily

we are sorted if we have a boy name wise but really struggling for girls names.

the chioce so far,

iris rose
mia rose
elsie rose

ive put them in order of my pref so far love mia as sounds pretty but its more popular than iris which makes iris appealing we were between iris and daisy when we had daisy n always thought if i had another girl name wud be iris rose without a doubt now im unsure??

A bit flowery for me.

Prefer Elsa to Elsie.

Would it be Me-a or My-a?

steph1512 · 19/02/2010 20:04

elsa is nice to.

and wud be me-a

fiestabelle · 19/02/2010 20:05

Elsie Rose would be my preference but all pretty names.

nigglewiggle · 19/02/2010 20:06

I love the name Iris, but Iris rose is a bit floral for me.

DrivenToDistraction · 19/02/2010 20:06

I like Elsie best but it would rhyme too much with Daisy for me. Elsa is fab

I do like Iris very much but I don't like themed sibling names.

How about Elsa Iris?

jkklpu · 19/02/2010 20:09

I like Iris best but not sure with Rose as a middle name - why don't you just go for FLora and be done with it! Prefer Elsa to Elsie.

steph1512 · 19/02/2010 20:11

yeah i like the idea of the three names having a diff ending sound so elsa wud be nice and elsa iris sounds really nice actually..think im worried i might regret not ever getting to use iris as i slightly felt this way after naming our second daughter (who at the time we thought was our last) daisy so glad we did but at the same time felt bit sad that iris wasnt used either,

had a home birth with daisy n when she arrived modwifes asked about names n we said iris or daisy n the midwife who had been doing her job 20yrs said her first ever home birth was a daisy so seemed right somehow.

think names def get harder each time

hehe no what u mean re iris rose a bit to flowery, just like rose as a middle name. althou also like iris elizabeth even thou that isnt a anem i wud ever normally go for but sounds nice together

Heated · 19/02/2010 20:16

Daisy, Grace and Iris is a beautiful combo, all strong but pretty names and very much in keeping with each other.

But agree with the others, I'm not sure about Rose as a mn, maybe a bit ott.

DrivenToDistraction · 19/02/2010 20:16

It is very flowery but you could just about get away with it if it wasn't that you already had a Daisy...

Heated · 19/02/2010 20:16

Iris Elizabeth is just lovely

DrivenToDistraction · 19/02/2010 20:18

Actually, I agree with Heated about Daisy, grace and Iris. It's fab.

steph1512 · 19/02/2010 20:25

me too i love how they all sound together, just got to convince my husband now lol hes always been slightly unsure of iris...MIL doesnt help!but is slowly coming round

just got the middle name to figure then!?

oh and then the poss that it will be a boy hehe

Thelongroadhome · 19/02/2010 20:30

I think if you have a Daisy and then have an Iris then Grace might feel a bit left out for not being names after a flower. It might sound nonsense but I know a few people with 'name issues' for being different to their siblings who have more similar names. I think Elsa is lovely whereas Elsie is still a bit 'old lady' to me.

steph1512 · 19/02/2010 20:37

oh no i would hate for grace to feel that way obviously was aware that she would be the only non flower name but never thought it wud have an effect...so much to consider!

OP posts:
Toffeepopple · 19/02/2010 20:44

Sadly, for some people it does have an affect. I know an Andrew, whose siblings all started with J, and he hated it.

steph1512 · 19/02/2010 20:52

i can kind of see the logic..but feel gutted now that the poss of her feeling that way wud take my fav name out of the equation!

i wud like to think as long as grace felt loved n included as everyone else it wouldnt matter but maybe thats just not realistic

OP posts:
jellybeans · 19/02/2010 20:56

mia rose

DrivenToDistraction · 19/02/2010 20:59

No, after what TRH said, I agree with myself again

Elsa Iris

Daisy, Grace and Elsa

Heated · 19/02/2010 20:59

I really don't think they would give it that much thought, they are 3 beautiful and strong names that you love. Boo hoo, you didn't name me after a flower - really? Just name the next one Cornea and you'll be fine

steph1512 · 19/02/2010 21:04

i would love to think you are right heated...n that they wouldnt give it that much thought but never known anyone who has been in that situation.

just sends me a little doubt as its something to think about combind with all the 'u cant have three children' comments..'one will be left out messed up' blah blah..but thats another thread

OP posts:
thereyet · 21/02/2010 18:33

Agree with jellybeans, Mia Rose, really beautiful name!

houseworkhater · 21/02/2010 22:54

I like Mia best then Iris.

telsa · 21/02/2010 23:25

Mia Rose is very pretty. I like Elsie Rose too. Iris Rose is too flowery, to be sure. I think it would be cute to have Daisy, Gracie and Elsie.
